Heat wave deadly despite Rush Limbaugh

Read Time:3 Minute, 1 Second

Don’t take heat threat lightly and don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh talk about it because he’s clueless

Climate change is making itself known in a big way all over the world, and the United States is no exception as blistering heat holds the country hostage to cooling rain.   Records have been broken from Chicago to St. Louis to New York.  In May temperatures in the deep south had already broken 100 degrees, with a heat index, the one Republican mouth breather Rush Limbaugh calls a liberal hoax, approaching 115 degrees in some locales.

heat gripping America is dangerous and deadly

The fact is global warming has caused the planet, already undergoing climate change, to heat up, which will transform parts of the nation to arid deserts within the next 20 years.  California will no longer be known for citrus but for olives, as the once lush countryside turns into a desert.  Parts of New York city will be like Venice, Italy, as sea levels rise, submerging neighborhoods, businesses, and routes of land travel.  All of this will happen within the next 20 years.

It matters not what the clueless Republicans think, because they are led by ignorance, and inspired by hate…hating the elderly, women, homosexuals, and those who refuse to embrace Jesus and his mythical gang of fools.  They also hate science, and climate change predictors are based on science.

Obama haters direct your heat toward the real enemy

So instead of bashing Obama the Hard Left haters should be bashing the Republicans because if they win the White House everything will get worse, much worse, and if you don’t think that possible continue hating the president.

Here’s the story about what is happening today.  Tomorrow will be much worse:

Twenty-nine states are under advisories as a blistering heat wave continues, MSNBC reports. East Coast temps are projected to hit highs in the 90s and 100s, says a meteorologist, but the heat index—what it feels like—could be closer to 115 degrees through tomorrow, says the National Weather Service. “In this heat, it’s not just about discomfort,” an expert said. It’s about “survival.”

In New York City, where there have only been 57 days of triple-digit heat since 1870, it felt like 112 yesterday. The heat indexes in DC, Tulsa, St. Louis, and Buffalo were all into the triple digits, too. Meteorologists also pointed to poor air quality, particularly in Baltimore and Washington, DC, where air quality is at a code red—meaning it’s unhealthy for everyone. About half the population is likely to be hit by the heat. “Do not take this threat lightly,” particularly if you’re very young or elderly, warns the National Weather Service.

The sun can be brutal during this record heat wave, but it’s overnight temperatures that should really worry you, writes Christopher Mims at Grist. In June, Oman recorded the world’s highest minimum temperature ever (107.1 degrees), and in many places, minimum night temperatures are rising even faster than daytime maximum temps. This matters because overnight heat kills more people, writes Mims.

“Everybody normally focuses on that daytime temperature, but that nighttime temperature brings us to a deadly level that is a concern,” says the director of the Dallas County Health Department. “At night, there’s no cooling off.” This is a chief reason why 5,000 people died in Paris during the 2003 summer. What’s more, there’s a global food connection: Higher daytime temps can increase rice production, but if the crop can’t cool at night, harvests drop.

Tell us what you think about the weather crisis and the heat wave that is gripping the country.

Rush Blimpo is an embarassment to my state, and on behalf of Missouri, I appologize. Rush Blimpo is an embarassment to my country, and on behalf of the United States, I appologize. Rush Blimpom is an embarassment to my planet, and on behalf of Earth, I appologize. Any American scientists, scientists from other nations, or extra-terrestrial intelligences that may wish to help us with the climate-chage crisis before it becomes a disaster, please do not be dissuaded by the mindless fatman. He doesn’t care about the next twenty years because he plans to be air-conditioned, insulated, and medicated on the prescription of his choice from now until he dies, which will most likely be before the inevitable global climate catastrophe. Afterwhich he may likely as not be roasting in Hell for crimes against humanity, but that’s not my call. Poetic justice, maybe, but not my call.

Feel sorry for the folks in the northern states, especially those without AC. Weather down here is pretty normal for the time of year, high 90s with a heat index of 104 – 110F. Roll on October.

I just read a piece in our local paper advising gardeners to give it up for the summer, and plan for fall planting.
