Jacqueline Kennedy:
Historic Conversations on Life With John F Kennedy

A new book about Jackie Kennedy
the people she liked and disliked, mostly disliked

Audio tapes of Jackie Kennedy, recorded four months after the 1963 assassination of her husband President John F. Kennedy, have been released for the first time. Jackie Kennedy opened her heart to White House aide Arthur Schlesinger at her Washington home.

The eight hours of recordings are the subject of a book – Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life With John F Kennedy – were published last week.

Jackie Kennedy didn’t appear have kind words for anyone.

LBJ – She recalls her husband’s scathing words about his Texan Vice-President Lyndon Johnson, whom he reluctantly made his number two because of the need for a southerner to balance the ticket. “Jack said it to me sometimes. He said, ‘Oh, God, can you ever imagine what would happen to the country if Lyndon were president?”‘

MLK – She also strongly criticized Dr. Martin Luther King, recalling how her brother-in-law Robert Kennedy told her the civil rights leader had been intoxicated at JFK’s funeral and mocked Cardinal Richard Cushing’s Mass. She said: “He made fun of Cardinal Cushing and [Robert] said that he was drunk at it. I can’t see a picture of Martin Luther King without thinking, that man’s terrible.”

She fails to see the complete person in all her comments, merely taking the superficial as the reality.

Johnson and King together dragged civil rights into the 20th century. They have few equals in history.

Franklin D. Roosevelt – Was described as an “insincere show off.”

She claimed “violently liberal women in politics” preferred Adlai Stevenson, JFK’s Democratic rival, because they were “scared of sex”.

Lady Bird Johnson, LBJ’s wife, was “sort of like a trained hunting dog’ who would whip out a notebook whenever her husband spoke so she could record everything, no matter how trivial.”

As for Madame Nhu, South Vietnam’s First Lady, and Clare Boothe Luce, a conservative U.S. congresswoman – “I wouldn’t be surprised if they were lesbians.”

French President Charles de Gaulle was “that egomaniac” and “that spiteful man”, while future Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was a “bitter, kind of pushy, horrible woman”.

Jackie Kennedy also said her husband had been disappointed upon meeting Winston Churchill in the 1950s.

“Jack had always wanted to meet Churchill. Well, the poor man [Churchill] was really quite ga-ga then,” she said. “I felt so sorry for Jack that evening because he was meeting his hero, only he met him too late.”

I can’t recall any major political speech she made, or any legislation she championed. But she wore nice clothes and married two very rich men. Enough said.

She had a talent for marrying well. Who gives a shit about what she thought about anything. The fact that this sort of nonsense makes front page news proves just how vapid our society has become. The fascination with all things Kennedy has to come to an end.

It’s apparent that Jackeeeeee Ooooooo was the harbinger of vapidity.

As I shared on Facebook, she’d make a great member of the tea party. Oh, God, can you ever imagine what would happen to the country if Lyndon were president? I wish he still were. Her comments about Churchill are sickening.

Jackeee, you’re no Eleanor Roosevelt or Lady Bird Johnson. With much disdain from a violently liberal woman.

Horrid person.
