5 Ways Congress Should Be ‘Pro-Life’

Read Time:1 Minute, 20 Second

The Republican-led congress recently passed HR 358, better known as the “Let Women Die” bill, which would force bleeding pregnant women to hospital-shop in order to get care.

ways congress can be pro-life madmikesamerica

My first reaction — What the f*ck?  How could a member of the United States Congress, Steve Stivers, be so callous?  You told us you respected a woman’s right to choose at election time. Liar, liar, pants on fire.

But perhaps I’m being too harsh. Maybe our so-called “representatives” are just clueless as to what kinds of support we need. So here are my suggestions to Congress:

1. Fund mandatory sex education in schools.

Prevention of unplanned pregnancies is the most effective way to reduce abortions.

2. Make contraceptives accessible and affordable.

If Catholic hospitals forbid standard services such as vasectomies, tubal ligations and AIDs testing, no federal funding for them.

3. Legislate generous family leave for moms and dads.

Incredibly, the U.S. is the only civilized nation on earth that does not mandate some form of paid maternity leave. What’s our problem?

4. Make federally funded day care a national priority.

Low-income moms can’t return to work otherwise.

5. Expand adoption services.

Encourage gay couples to adopt and marry.

Instead of making pregnant women jump through hoops to get reasonable health care services and using the polarizing issue of abortion as a means of energizing their political base, Congress needs to step back and be pro-life in a genuine way.

Please don’t wait for them to act on their own.  Call your Congressman today.   Lives could depend on it.

While I agree with each point made, I especially like this one:

Encourage gay couples to adopt and marry

… and for very ignoble reasons. I can imagine how annoying the statement is to conservatives and I purr with pleasure.

Liz, don’t censor yourself.

Good idea, outlaw abortion. Force women into back alleys and use coat hangers so they can die a horrific, painful death. I wonder how many women died pre-Roe v. Wade? Way to go! That’s pro-life.

I think I’ll copy this post as a comment to at least 10 anti choice sites. I’ll start with any and all Linda Harvey’s.

Anyone with me?

Dorothy, I am in favor of Roe V. Wade and completely against outlawing abortion. Not sure if I made that clear or not.
