God forsakes Tim Tebow

Read Time:1 Minute, 55 Second

I’m one of the few openly Christians here at MMA. I remember when I came out. Everyone welcomed me and supported my religious preference.

tim tebow and god madmikesamerica

They also appreciated how I didn’t proselytize. I just forgave them and never once prayed that God would make me a better writer or get more traffic and be real popular here. Although MadMike may have considered praying for that just in case he’s wrong and there is a God.

But still, as a Christian, I find Tim Tebow’s constant thanking of The Lord for his arm or for his team’s success in Florida shallow and irritating. Tim played college football in Florida. A one armed man could be successful at college football in Florida. All the good players want to play college football in Florida. They have nice weather and hot chicks supplied by boosters there. Thank God for booster supplied hot chicks and nice weather I suppose.

Now Tebow’s [and everyone else who is blinded by religion] hope [or something] came true. Tebow is the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. He led his team to victory over the only team worse than the Broncos last week. The Dolphins. Not a particularly stunning feat. But Tim thanked God. I don’t think it was the work of God that made the Dolphins suck. Bad coaching, management and ownership are enough.

The irony of Tebow’s “Godness” is that this year, God is smiling and bestowing His grace on the San Francisco 49ers. Yes. San Francisco. The haven for Gay people. Apparently God loves the Gay people so much he gave their flagship city a winning football team.

As always, God’s favor is fleeting. He will bestow them on someone else’s team He deems worthy soon enough. He blessed the Steelers yesterday while cursing the Patriots but that’s shows God is even handed since He blessed the Patriots with three Super Bowl championships.

So after all that is said and done, Tim Tebow will be thanking God for something God had nothing to do with or even cared about. This will make him a hero to those who are devoted servants to God and have to pray to see if it’s okay to buy a Snickers Bar.

So, may God bless MadMike’sAmerica. Unless it’s blessed like Tebow’s Denver Broncos. Then. Never mind.

Tebow is picked on because he is outspoken about his beliefs and I think God will honor him in that. But somehow I don’t really think God cares too much about football. He has more important things on His mind.

Whoever wrote this article misses the point of Tim Tebow thanking God. He thanks God for everything. He doesn’t say, “I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for this victory.” Even when they lose he gets together with other players on both teams and they pray.

Praise God for people like Tim Tebow who is not afraid to share his faith. Lots of people love him for his courage in spreading the gospel. On the other hand, a lot of people hate him for that very same reason (in that sense he is like Jesus so that picture is ironic) and also because he is successful and doing so much good for society. Jealousy is a huge part of it for some people.

The Almighty just told me, it is never wrong to get Snickers bars, just in case you need that extra okie dokie. I am currently eating Milk Duds and cookies and creme bars that were left over from last night. Ok, so I never opened those bags, but I had intentions of doing so. Oh that was supposed to be a reply to Joe up there, mah internetz had a brain fart or I did. I know what I want to blame 🙂

I might pray for world peace or a cure for cancer. But I’ll be damned if I’ll pray to win a football game or over what kind of haircut to get.

Now I’m off to get a Snickers bar Matt. If that’s okay with you and The Almighty.

Joe, this was a good article and as a solid Alabama fan I have had my fill of Timmy and his religiosity. I guess in his senior year God decided to favor Alabama, that is if God can tear himself away from other trivial matters such as hunger, earthquake victims, flood victims, various storm victims, etc. I do think Tim Tebow will get will get a revelation of sorts though in the NFL. It is going to take a lot more than his public display of religion for Denver to win a championship at his level now. As much as the Denver fans would like for him to be John Elway reincarnated, he is no John Elway. Even if he were, I am not sure even John Elway could win a championship with the team that Denver has right now. So, keep on praying Timmy but I don’t think anyone is home to answer the phone and even if they were, they probably got more important things to do.

I almost didn’t open this article because I didn’t think I had heard of Tim Tebow. (It turns out that I had heard his story, but had forgotten, but that’s neither here nor there…) Glad I took a look anyway–a fun read with some great points and observations. Thanks for the post!

If any of you ever get confused about praying to someone or something as far as Snickers bars and is it okay, you all have my absolution that not only is it okay it is imperative you do so. Go with God, or the Invisible Pink Unicorn(peace be upon her tiny, glittered hooves) as I do, up to you.

Good article. I find Tebow’s holier-than-thou lecturing of us moms on family planning obnoxious. It’s like me telling him how to improve his passing game.

Actually Liz you can probably tell him more about his passing game than he can tell you about parenthood. You have probably thrown a ball before. Tebow has never raised any children. His best analogy would be that he’s been a ball that has been thrown.

Put down the glue Matt, Put down the glue.
This past weekend the Gods made a big mistake, they sent the storms and snow to the North East a little early…people lost their homes, people lost their lives and livelihoods…
I prayed to Poseidon and Zeus…but they said they don’t ever make mistakes so live with it…
I think I’m gonna start praying to Allah or the spaghetti monster next.

Wow, one of the worst articles I have ever read. Who are you to decide if the man is correct in his beliefs or not? Who are you to say that you have the correct answer?

Its not that he’s pointing out someones beliefs are wrong. He is simply pointing out the fact that for those who believe in God, we don’t think God is really focusing on helping out football teams…
This article is saying that wearing john 3:16 on your face, or thanking God for you good football game can be seen as silly, because God most likely has higher concerns.
Hope this make sense, sorry for any confusion. Maybe a re-read of the article might help bring out its intent 🙂 Have a good day!

“Be kind, for everyone is fighting their own battle” – Plato

It’s easy to look down upon someone who makes millions and laugh at them thanking God for their abilities when there is so much suffering in this world. But does that make it wrong to thank Him for what is good? I personally don’t see what’s wrong with giving praise for being gifted with such talent. Obviously there are more important things in this world than football, but that is Tim Tebow’s life, and with his beliefs I would think it would be selfish to not thank God.

Anytime I see a Christian with the ability to criticize another Christian, and in a lighthearted and humorous way I might add, deserves a hat tip from me. I’ll wager “Matt” is one of those born hard, bible banging, died in the wool Krazy Kristians that Mike goes on about from time to time. I think this was a great piece of work. I also agree with Lee. How about some more of these Mike? Can’t your team muster at least one sports post a day? 🙂

LOL! I would love it if Joe could write something every day, but only he can make that decision. How about it Joe? 🙂 🙂

This is the best sports story I’ve read in a long time. Wish you had one a day at least.
