Take the Facebook Pledge
Take the Facebook Pledge
I’ve had incidents in my life serious enough to result in an “unfriend-then-block” on Facebook, but never anything serious enough to result in an “unfriend-then-arson.” Apparently, others haven’t been so lucky.
In recent strange news, a couple in Des Moines, Iowa recently had their house set ablaze by a former friend who was upset, well, over being “unfriended.” Their victimization was apparently the culmination of a hot Facebook dispute that turned even hotter with the middle-of-the-night arson.
According to the story, they are no longer friends, presumably on Facebook or in real life.
I invite you to take the Facebook pledge by posting the following as your status along with a link to this story:
“I love all of my Facebook friends dearly, and I hope that we stay friends. That said, while I would be sad and perhaps even a bit upset should you ever “unfriend” me, I do make this promise to you: I will not, under any circumstances, set your house on fire like this woman in Iowa. Join me in taking the Facebook pledge.”

You’ll change your mind John. Trust me.
I will not un-friend anyone. If I end up joining FaceBook and people are clever enough to un-earth me from hiding place, I feel that kind of diligence should be rewarded.
I just started doing that Facebook about 6 months ago and it’s a lot of fun. So far I’ve haven’t been plagued with any stalkers or bad folk but when I do I’ll ont flinch about throwing them out. Of course I don’t use my real name so anyone would have a hard time seeking revenge.
I’ve unfriended and blocked several people, and I never looked back. Maybe I should increase my homeowners insurance 🙂
