Insiders: Ron Paul absolutely knew about racist letters

Ron Paul absolutely knew about the racist, anti-Semitic, and homophobic content in his newsletters—and, indeed, strategically embraced it as a means of boosting sales, sources tell the Washington Post.
“It was his newsletter … so he always got to see the final product,” says one former secretary in Paul’s company. “He would proof it.” A former longtime Paul aide confirms that, saying he personally saw Paul signing off on the newsletters. “The real big money came from some of that racially tinged stuff,” he says.
Ed Crane, head of the libertarian Cato Institute, says he had a strategy discussion with Paul at the time, in which the two agreed that “people who have extreme views” were most likely to respond to direct mail solicitations. Newsletter sales were lagging at the time, and people familiar with Paul’s business say he decided to “morph” the newsletters to capitalize on racial tensions.
The passages were mostly written by longtime associate Lew Rockwell, who at the time was publicly calling on libertarians to reach out to civil rights opponents, according to the New York Times. Paul’s campaign denies the reports, saying Paul was practicing medicine full time, and was unaware of the offensive material.
The very idea of Ron Paul practicing medicine is scarier than the idea of him being president.

Check this out man. I know that Ron Paul isn’t a racist. You know why? Because he’s for pardoning everyone in jail for drug misdemeanor’s mostly Marijuana. Let me ask you….What percent of that is White men/Women only? I’m willing to bet less than half….No less than a quarter even. Now this much is true…..Ron Paul believes that a business owner should have the right to serve whomever they want in there store which would probably mean you would see “white only” signs again. Lets think about this for a second however….In this day and age…Would you really think people would want to shop in stores owned by racists? Mr. Graziani you fall right in line with the Paul Bots. A lack of education and in some cases downright illiteracy is the common denominator with Paul supporters. This is evidenced by some of the comments. The fact is Ron Paul cannot and will not win. He is another multimillionaire who has been flip flopping since 1980. His so called “libertarian” views are a sham. Secondly, I recommend you point fingers at the authors of the articles not the publisher of the paper or the magazine. I doubt “MadMike” himself looks at each of these and doubt he would censor if he did.
Finally, let me give you a bit of education: In your last sentence you use “their” educated people. That is wrong. It should be “they are” or, if you prefer, the contraction, “they’re.” So you have learned something today. Wasn’t that nice of me to educate you. It makes me absolutely sick that the MSM tosses around these stories- copied and pasted as if they’re forwarded the story and told to publish it. Mike, you should be ashamed of yourself for reporting these libelous stories concerning Ron Paul. You are a disgrace to the first ammendment that Ron Paul is fighting to uphold- maybe you should be reporting on something that’s important to your readers like NDAA section 1021, SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, or the March for Life protest which gathered tens of thousands of people.

Well, that makes it all better. Pointing to an article about media coverage doesn’t help. If you wanted to cover this topic fairly you would inform readers of proper context. For example, stating despite these accusations they are in stark contrast to Ron Paul’s message stated from congressional record, his books, and campaign for decades. Withholding full context allows you to paint the picture you desire vs. letting the reader make informed decisions.
This is news and it was covered as news. If there were an article that said it has been proven that Ron Paul did not know about the racism in the newsletters we would have printed that as well. You Ron Paulsamics need help I think.
