Jeb Bush for President?

Read Time:2 Minute, 10 Second

The shadow of Jeb Bush is looming large over the republican selection process. Who will face President Obama in November? Al Cardenas, head of the American Conservative Union and organizer of last week’s CPAC is quoted as saying the former Florida governor could emerge as a ‘possible alternative’ at a brokered convention.

The highly entertaining debates and the handful of elections so far, have thrown up one winner, then another, then another. Its obvious voters do not like Mitt Romney enough to give him the delegates the republican establishment would like him to have, after all, he paid for them. Newt Gingrich talked himself to a win in South Carolina, then kept talking and is trailing miserably. From the Neanderthal wing of the republican party, sweater vest guy Rick Santorum is currently leading in the polls, which is amazing considering the bilge that comes out of his mouth. Political Ruminations keeps track of Santorum’s insane, anti-women utterings so we don’t have to.

Al Cardenas is suggesting that if Romney loses in Michigan on February 28, but wins a few states on Super Tuesday in early March, the republicans could get to the convention without a clear leader. A brokered convention could be a possibility. The last one was in 1976 when Gerald Ford beat Ronald Reagan on the first ballot. In 1948 it took three ballots before Thomas Dewey won. Cardenas thinks that Jeb Bush would be the perfect candidate to unite the party under one banner.

This from Al Cardenas:

. . . and then you might see the possibility of two of the four candidates making a deal, a ticket, things of that nature. It starts getting exciting. If no deal could be struck then a dark horse could step in on a second ballot, when delegates pledged to candidates would be free to vote as they wished.

That’s when you start thinking of a Jeb Bush or someone like that could maybe come in as a possible alternative.

The republican convention is in August. Could this psychotic nomination circus last that long? The republican hierarchy are beginning to think so. A brokered convention would shine the bright lights of the media on them like never before. They would no doubt spin it as ‘democracy at its best’ but what it would really be is a bunch of nasties fighting and lying for the pleasure of being crushed in November. Divide and conquer.

I lived in Florida during the Jeb Bush years. Other than his occasional dalliances with his idiot brother, e.g. Terri Schiavo, he wasn’t a bad governor.

I’ve been saying for forever they would bring Jeb in on his white horse to save the day from the horse’s asses running. This will be good.

It was mentioned this morning on MSNBC Jess. First time I’ve heard it covered. They were talking about what happens if Romney loses Michigan and they’re stuck with Santorum.

So basically this is just one huge parade of people spending millions to make fools of themselves until the elders decide who to really sent?
