McDonald’s, big bosses of the golden arches, apologized and pulled an ad that came back to bite them when they disparaged pit bulls.

The ad that said eating a Chicken McBite was less risky than petting a pit bull enraged pit bull owners and their defenders from coast to coast and it seriously pissed me off.

McDonald’s spokeswoman Ashlee Yingling said Monday the radio ad for Chicken McBites ran just a few days before it was pulled Friday.

The company issued an apology by email and people who called a toll free number got a recorded apology.  At least they did more than Michael Vick.

Rachele Lizarraga of Sacramento says she found it reckless so she started a Facebook site and an online petition.

Some critics said McDonald’s should also donate to pit bull causes or use a pit in an ad.  They could also consider sponsoring spots that would decry that ludicrous practice of breed banning.

No word from the gods of the golden arches on those ideas. I wonder how long we’ll have to wait?

Got a friend that has the greatest pit bull ever and I say this as crazy cat lady in training. When he comes over it’s into the pool with my other dogs, then up to get blow dried and cuddles on the lap alongside the cat/s. I have not seen him be aggressive at all and I’ve been around this dog many times. They get a raw deal because of idiots that train them to be mean.

I’m more of a cat lover myself, but I think pitbulls get a raw deal. I mean I hear of children that are mauled by regular type dogs on a regular basis. Would you let your kid run out into a busy intersection or put their hand on a hot stove element. I agree that parents have to be supervising all the time. Shit, right-wing fundamentalist xians are more dangerous than dogs! Meow !

Hey Mad Mike. I totally get where you’re coming from on this, but I’d point out that eating their McChicken foam is not less risky then petting a pitbull. It’s more risky. In fact, it’s more risky than smoking a pack and half of cigarettes, drinking a pint of Jack Daniels and then driving home! On an LA freeway! In a Pinto!

How could anyone call that beautiful dog a killer? I have a pit that I’ve had for the last 6 years and she’s my best friend and companion. I love her and she me. She plays with the neighbor’s dogs and cats and has never once showed aggression. They’re beautiful dogs, only the ugly people corrupt their souls.
