Walter Jones: North Carolina Extremist Congressman

Those republicans just never give up, and this time the stretch is long indeed, as a democrat turned republican and now Ron Paul supporter introduces a resolution to impeach the president if he has does anything remotely warlike without permission from the congress.

Calls for President Obama’s impeachment have come down the pike before, most recently from Grover Norquist. This time a Republican representative—North Carolina’s Walter Jones—has introduced a House resolution that would authorize Obama’s impeachment for using the military without authorization from Congress, RawStory reports. Jones, a former Democrat who switched sides in the 1990s, backed Ron Paul in the 2008 election and has been a vocal critic of the president’s power to make war.

To quote Jones: “When you talk about war, political parties don’t matter.” As for the bill, it doesn’t call for Obama’s impeachment per se, but says “the use of offensive military force by a president without prior and clear authorization … violates Congress’s exclusive power to declare war … and therefore constitutes an impeachable high crime.” Even if the bill clears the House, however, RawStory says it’s sure to die in the gridlocked Senate. For other Obama impeachment calls, check one from Michele Bachmann and another over the president’s use of force in Libya.

Those Carolinas are a mess indeed.  Populated with Jesus Jumpers, gun lovers and nutty politicians, here is yet another reason why I wouldn’t want to live there.  Would you?  Let us know in the comments section.

Nothing wrong with the South, but some of the people we could do without. Maybe we could sent them to Oklahoma.

No thank you. Living in rural MN is bad enough.

I really can’t understand why anyone would live in the South on purpose. My mother’s family moved to California to get away from those people (the racist, fundie ones). I would not live there under any circumstances.
