Erin Responds to the Horrible Hatred of Pastor Worley

Read Time:1 Minute, 2 Second

Pastor Charles Worley is yet another argument for the abolishment of religion. The evil that pervades the minds and hearts of some of the holiest of the holy, the preachers, priests, reverends and pastors will sicken the most hardy among us and the evil that is Charles Worley stains Christians everywhere, but particularly the congregation of the Providence Road Baptist Church, who applaud the venom that spews from the mouth of this monstrous man.

Here is Erin’s take on Worley’s homophobic rant.  The editorializing, AKA “wraparound text” is the invention of Michael J. Scott, proud Atheist, and I stand by every word:

Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church — located at 3283 Providence Mill Rd, Maiden, NC 28650 — is seen here from a service posted to the church’s website dated May 13, 2012 calling for the starvation and ultimate death of “queers and homosexuals.”

When I hear such vile rhetoric it makes me proud to be an atheist, and only regret I won’t live long enough to see such fanatic Christians purged from the land. People like this man don’t preach love they preach hate….Michael J. Scott

Exactly John! Those who are homophobic are the ones with the issue. We wonder why so many priests are sexually abusing young boys within the Catholic Church.

Funny how adding the word “GOD” to currency and other pieces of paper automatically conjure up some mystical, invisible, non-existent deity that will create an invisible shield around you to protect you from all the atheists and terrorists that are out there. Gee, what happened to being protected during 9/11. How about all the atrocities committed during the Bush era when he became a born-again nutbagger claiming god would save us all from the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Weapons of mass destruction as an excuse to kill innocents all in the name of your god.
Just more religious insanity……and it continues.

Ah your “lifestyle.” Which is it? have you figured it out for your kids yet? Will they be boys? girls? change along the way? Will your son marry their buddies instead of girls? It’s just all out of hand when you start teaching kids its a sexual free for all. The part the media seems to leave out of that pastors sermon, which by the way I do not agree with, is that he ended it by explaining it takes male and a female to reproduce. If male dogs go around screwing each other you’ll eventually end up with a bunch of dogs with sore butts and no offspring, eventually old dogs with old sore butts and still you know what? no puppies.

I think you’re overstating the problem HK. The problem is not with sex, but those who would legislate it, like the religious, and their representatives. I doubt boys will start going out with boys, exclusively, any more than most dogs will start fucking each other in the ass. Both premises are without merit as I see it.

Hear! Hear! Rick! I’ve been an Atheist for years, about the time I decided to think for myself, this after being a devout catholic, altar boy and all. I started to question religion after a Sunday sermon where the priest kept talking about local politics and how one candidate was the spawn of the devil whereas the other was “blessed in Christ.” I somehow knew this was all bullshit and had no place in a church. I never went back to church but was still a believer of sorts, until I got a serious education. It was then I learned the insanity of religion.

Actually, HK, the atheists I know don’t blame God any more that they give God credit for things for which we are responsible. We do, however, blame bigots and hateful asshats when they open their mouths and allow their miasma of misinformation, lies and evil to spill out onto the streets. And for the last FLIPPING time, I am an agnostic.

You want to abolish all relgion because some people pervert it and use it to the demise of others. I do not blame you really I think we should get rid of all relgions and adopt Christianity as a national belief system. Christianity means to be Christ like Christ never persecuted anyone an died for everyon he made a statement when he was tortured to death forgive them. I agree that religion is terrible thats why I try to be like Christ but I am not able too so I can not say anything about anyone really. He said he came not to judge the world he said love your enemy , actully he said so what you love your brother everyone does. Try loving your enemy and then you get the idea of what I am trying to teach you…Thanks for making a good point about relgion it is what got Jesus put on the cross, the people who murdered that innocent man were the most religious of the day.

You might want to research the American Revolution, the actual event, not the David Barton version, and discover one of the reasons our forefathers (including some of my ancestors) came over here in the first place.

The word “God” was added to paper currency in 1957. “In God We Trust” was adopted as the official seal of the US in 1956. “Under God” was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954. Keep trying, you’ll eventually pull David Barton out of your hat to prove me wrong, then I can REALLY go to town.

HK I thank you for stopping by and am sad that your experience was a negative one. We write about a lot of hot topics over here and from time to time we all lean to the cynical side, and that’s not a good thing, but it’s part of the business. We get nasty comments, horrible emails, and from time to time wicked phone calls. Please let me assure you that we have a fine team of writers over here, good and decent people every one, but as you can see by this thread alone contentious topics can bring all kinds of critters out of the woods. As I read over your comments, in particular the last one, I can see where your words could be considered offensive, and when that is the interpretation there is an action/reaction dynamic taking place. Have a great day….

Sorry, did you just, wearing your “I’m a super warrior for Jesus” hat, just call me an asshole? AND insult not only my parenting skills, but my child? AND use this term: “lesgaybibutfkntrans” to describe the LGBT community? AND equate liberalism with being transgender? That’s a whole lot of ignorance all in one comment, but let’s parse it out, shall we? 1) I’m not a member of the LGBT community; I am a straight, married wife and mother. 2) How incredibly weak minded of you to come to a site that leans left, and whine and fuss and insult, then get your panties in a bunch when people call you on it. 3) How terribly UN CHRISTIAN of you to call me names, insult my parenting skills and my child and accuse me of being self-righteous when you are acting more self-righteous than I ever have in my entire life. Tell ya what, Sparky. Why don’t you send us your address, since you don’t want to “live online,” and you and my 6’2″, 225 pound former football player of a husband can have a chat about what you just called his wife and son. I find this all rather funny. I am certainly not religious by any means, but i feel that whatever makes someone happy, provided it does not negatively affect anyone else, should not be the business of anyone else. In fact, people should be aiming to make other people happy (I do all the time and i am almost never unhappy) and not tear them apart for the things that they choose to do with their own lives. I love how christians always think that they know best and they have found the true path and everyone else must follow or burn in hell for eternity. Seems just a bit too hard sale to me. I think religion has its pros and cons – its great for people to have faith and want to do good, but its not good to think that we are better than others simply because of what we believe (note that it is only a belief and nothing has been proven). Also note that the major causes of war across the ages can more often than not be traced back to religious issues. How can you claim to be promoting love through such means. Its disgusting. I am not religious at all and i can sleep at night knowing that i am a good, kind person (I believe in Karma, for which there is way more evidence than any religion). How disgraceful to use the lure of something like religion to get people to do your evil doing (its all brainwash – might as well go all out like Hitler if you want to do the job right)

Finally i have to raise this point!! It seems that nobody has even mentioned it. Does anybody know where gay babies (or Gaybies) come from?? It is most definitely not from gay people, i am pretty sure about this, so there is obviously a rather large flaw in this not too intelligent persons theory. And of course, the sheeple will believe this bull and follow him into the dark night!! How absolutely pathetic. If you believe in a god, you should believe that he has given you a brain for a reason!! Use it for original thought and to make your own decisions based on available evidence and dont always believe what people tell you, cos people, are not the most trustworthy creatures on this planet.

I agree with you Michael. Knowledge from the internet has really opened our eyes to the atrocities of religion and some people who live by an ancient book written by sheepherders who were bored because they didn’t have anything better to do. No tv and internet. So they decided to make up some stories which pertain to the times they live in. These stories were passed on from generation to generation until someone decided to put them together so they could control the populace and begin to collect money from them. I’ve never needed religion to tell me how to behave. Yet, I would see these proselytizing Christians all around me who were nothing but hypocrites and I would say to myself that I sure didn’t want to be like them. Altruism is innate ! Look at how the animal kingdom looks after its own. Homosexuality takes place among at least 1500 animal species. Some examples include dwarf chimpanzees, lions, whales, dolphins, crabs, worms, and the list goes on. Four to 5 percent of ducks and geese are homosexual. Do the research. Yes Michael, just think, if it wasn’t for the straight population we wouldn’t have gays. Knowledge and understanding of Science and facts is the only thing that will enlighten the brainwashed religious. It’s really tough trying to be nice to people who close their minds and constantly back up what they believe with a 1600 year old book they claim was written by one of the thousands of gods created by man.

Michael (great name by the way) the whole point of this discussion is that inflammatory rhetoric such as that spouted by this “man of god” does in fact threaten others because there are millions of people out there who are more than ready and willing to believe it, and even to act upon it if given the opportunity.

Exactly. It’s people like Worley who are directly responsible, in my opinion, for the rash of LGBT teens suicides in America over the past few years. If you preach hate, your flock of sheep will go home and share that hate, and the cycle begins. It’s disgusting and it’s evil and I agree with Mike Scott. Religion kills. NOT spirituality, religion.

I wonder where all this indignation is when it comes to Obama’s hate filled minister the Reverend Wright. It seems that lefties are okay with Preachers hating America and white people. I am okay with it all too. Our Constitution provides for freedom of religion and freedom of speech as well as freedom of thought. Lefties need to remember they will eventually be consumed by their own political correctness since what is good for the goose is good for the gander and that the thought police will come for them too.

First of all you should read the Bible homosexuality is a stinch in the nostrils of a Holy and righteous GOD, secondly homosexuality is a perverse and morally bankrupt lifestyle and those who are purposely living in it are according to the word of GOD a reprobate. Homosexuals cannot reproduce they can only recruit so turn from your wicked ways and come to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus before it is too late, there is a judgement day whether you believe it or not. Jesus can save anyone who will call upon His name and ask his forgiveness turn to Christ today.

Wow. You certainly seem to know it all and waste no time to recruit people for gods army hey. Gods army, yup, think that about says it all. Not impressed with how one sided your thoughts are, but suppose you have found the right answer to life and how could one not have a big head about that. Preach on brother and one day all of us terrible sinners will be as righteous as you are. One can only hope hey.
Oh wait, i just have one point. The bible – a book – read by humans (please consider the phrase – to err is human – now and always) interpreted by humans and then explained to, lets say, lesser humans (the ones who are not able to grasp what is trying to be said, you know, the sheeple). It all seems like a game of broken telephone that has the ability to open up a massive can of worms, but anyway, i am sure you know just what you are talking about since you have no doubt read the great book.
Lastly, this god you speak of, he created man did he not?? And everything that man has, he owes to this god you speak of. So surely then this god has thought of all the necessary things to make these humans function. Is it not a beautiful thing that we are different? Would you prefer if we all went to your church? God has created us in such a way that we are able to make our own decisions and live life as we please. He has even left us some rules, how nice, so we dont get too crazy. And i dont recall one of those 10 rules saying anything about sexual preference, but i am sure you know better than i do. Hope you have a lovely day and do a good deed like a good christian.

Now that family is on the street, but some asshole like you has a nice new suit or gold plated desk set or that platinum covering for your chair. Religion is a con, and it is the con that I hate. Believe in god, fine. Believe in fairy tales and imaginary friends because you either never grew up or are afraid of death, that is where religion fails. This is what the atheist wants to see gone.

Also, rather ironic that you say that gays can only recruit (when i am sure that the gays would disagree as most of them will claim that this is simply the way they are, and certainly not a lifestyle that they have been lured into) and, in fact, it is the christians that seem to occupy all their time with recruitment (instead of doing good like they claim they do). I have never met a bunch of people so desperate to get everyone to join their cause. Please note that i am not speaking about all religious folk, simply the ones that use it as a moral highground cos they attend church, but dont take it any further to actually practice what the bible preaches.

Erin, I specifically referenced just one line of Bill’s post.

In my heart, mind and soul, absolutely NO human being is inferior and I certainly do not think that we should “get rid of illegals.”

Here is how I read and interpreted Bill’s post line by line:

Well Erin, what you said about religion, is pretty much what he said about gays! [Erin, I think Bill, like me, read the wrap-around text and attributed those comments to you. Those comments -the wrap-around text- are hateful, whoever wrote them]

So, one idiot preachers rant condems all religion. Hate! Hate! Hate! [I agree with Bill, here. Just like in any profession, there are noble and good teachers/doctors/lawyers/preachers-priests-pastors/cooks,etc… and there are some really, really bad ones. None of us are perfect because we are all human. When a “bad” teacher/doctor/lawyer/pastor/cook is exposed does not mean that education/medicine/the justice system/religion/foodservice should be blanketed in utter condemnation. I felt Bill is totally opposed to hate like I am]

Hitler wanted to get rid of the Jews, Slavs, Homos, blacks and other “inferior” races. [Erin, I did not read this line and interpret it as I think you may have. I guess only Bill can speak to what he actually meant; but in this case, when a word like “inferior” is in quotation marks means -to me- not to take the word literally. Bill is saying that Hitler wanted to rid the world of the above people because he (Hitler, not Bill) believed the above people were inferior]

Lets just get rid of all illegals in this country and that will illiminate about 7 million people. Or, like in the 1960′s…we’ll round up all the people over 40 and put them in concentration camps and keep them high on LSD so they don’t care…dumb ass! [I believe Bill guy is going to the extreme to express the ridiculous insanity of what hatred, left unchecked, can amount to. His “dumb ass” addendum was totally uncalled for, however, and stains the points I believe he was originally trying to make]

I appreciate your video, Erin, but I’m offended by the wrap around text that surrounds it.

Peace,

Laurie

Hi Michael,

I believe you must be “MJS” and the author of the wrap-around text:

“Pastor Charles Worley is yet another argument for the abolishment of religion.
Here is Erin’s take on Worley’s homophobic rant:”

[ERIN’S VIDEO]

“Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church — located at 3283 Providence Mill Rd, Maiden, NC 28650 — is seen here from a service posted to the church’s website dated May 13, 2012 calling for the starvation and ultimate death of “queers and homosexuals.”

[WORLEY’S VIDEO]

“When I hear such vile rhetoric it makes me proud to be an atheist, and only regret I won’t live long enough to see such Christians purged from the land. People like this man don’t preach love they preach hate….MJS”

Regarding the above, these 2 lines are offensive to me and can be understood as hate spewing, too:
1) “Pastor Charles Worley is yet another argument for the abolishment of religion.”
2) “When I hear such vile rhetoric it makes me proud to be an atheist, and only regret I won’t live long enough to see such Christians purged from the land.”

Peace,

Lori

Lori I appreciate your thoughts. Diversity of opinion is welcome at MMA. The operative word here is “such” Christians, not all Christians. People like Worley, and there are far too many of them, diminish the good folk who practice their religion without expressing such hatred. In retrospect however, I should have said religion should be purged from the land, not people mind you, the practice. History is replete with evidence of the evil that is committed in the name of someone’s god and the world would be a better place without religion.

Thanks again for your comments. I hope you become a regular visitor and that we can agree to disagree.

ABSOLUTELY must the public stand up to protest Worley and call for the abolishment of the immense hatred he spews, but PLEASE do NOT be so naive as to associate ALL Christians and/or ALL Southerners with Worley’s vitriolic diatribe. What Worley believes and hatefully expressed is definitely NOT what Jesus would do, and truly NOT what all Christians and Southerners believe either.

How one views Christianity and the bible is a Rorschach blot test. In other words, your views say more about you than they do about Christianity and the bible. If one wants to hate/be intolerant, cite the bible. If one wants to love/be tolerant, cite different passages. You decide which passages to select (i.e., what’s in the blot).

It’s the same type of hatred with just different skin on it. Hate has never conquered hate, but love has.

Kevin, perhaps I can help here. While I agree with some of your points, most atheists that I know don’t hate christian people, they hate the christian religion. We don’t like it that people are being told lies, taken for every dime they have, all in the name of “faith”. Yes, I am an atheist, but I used to be a christian. I was supposed to become a pastor. I am much happier now, because I know the truth. I don’t hate a person who believes in God, just the person who lies and cons people and demands they be unthinking, stupid sheep.

When you say “abolish religion” you are grouping, stereotyping, and suggesting everyone is the same who knows the Lord. It’s no different than someone saying get rid of all gays. Fundamental Christians are equally as tired of homosexuals flaunting who they prefer to have sex with. Why announce that you are homosexual or heterosexual? I know it’s your turn in society, since “religion dictated” for years, but crap, give it a rest. Whos next? Pedophiles? Animal Beastiality groups? It’s just a matter of time since liberals have made it a “no limits” on what or who you can screw these days.

HK the conservatives are the ones who are trying to regulate who or what you can screw, not the liberals. Perhaps you haven’t been paying attention?

“The Christian Delusion” by John W. Loftus (book)

In their most inner thoughts, even the most devout Christians know that there is something illegitimate about belief. Underneath their profession of faith is a sleeping giant of doubt…In my experience, the best way to conquer doubt is to yield to it. (Dan Barker, pastor-turned-atheist )

David I know what you’re saying but it is religion I eschew, not those who choose to worship a mythical being. That is their choice and their decision, regardless of how silly I think it is. People like Worley do in fact represent the thoughts of millions especially those red-state residents, and that is what is frightening. Thanks for your thoughts.

There is an upside to this. If there is anything to this religion they preach about this guy has an express pass to the hell he thinks everyone else is headed to.
