Believe in Me and I Will Make You Rich

Can you believe it? Creflo Dollar, a Pastor at a Mega church, is part of Christianity called Prosperity Gospel. They claim if you believe hard enough in God,  he will reward you with wealth and happiness; that God wants to see his children wealthy and happy. To make matters worse, T.D. Jakes (who has appeared on Dr. Phil and Joel Osteen preach this as well. CNN news reports Creflo’s church claims about 30,000 members and has a multimillion-dollar sanctuary that resembles a golden-domed spaceship atop a hill.

CNN went on to say, “The theology’s emphasis is on God’s promised generosity in this life and the ability of believers to claim it for themselves. If God loves us, it teaches, then God will reward us with a new home, a good job, or good health. God wants us to be prosperous.”

Let us see what the Bible says about all this; “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other you cannot serve God and wealth. Matthew 6:24”. Oh oh, that can’t be good. “Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles, but the one who gathers by labor increases it. Proverbs 13:11” Hmm, all the Prosperity Gospel says is pray and believe.

“People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 1 Timothy 6:9-11″

The above quote almost sums up what the believers in Prosperity Gospel are into. They want to get rich, just like the Pastors of the churches are. Yet, it is written;

“Jesus looked steadily at him and loved him, and he said, “There is one thing you lack. Go and sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” But his face fell at these words and he went away sad, for he was a man of great wealth. Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!” The disciples were astounded by these words, but Jesus insisted, “My children,” he said to them, “how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” They were more astonished than ever. “In that case,” they said to one another, “who can be saved?” Jesus gazed at them. “For men,” he said, “it is impossible, but not for God: because everything is possible for God… Many who are first will be last, and the last first.” Mark 10:21-27,31″

These self proclaimed Men of God are teaching a false belief. They are saying God WANTS rich people and god KNOWS only the rich are happy yet the Bible says, “Do not save riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. Instead, save riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are. Mat 6:19-21”

What is written in the Bible and what is preached in the Prosperity Gospels are at odds with each other, yet there are people who flock to these shysters in hopes of becoming wealthier beyond the dreams of Avarice. It is taught throughout the Bible that even if you do become rich, you are to help your fellow man, and it does not matter how he got into his position, “When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous. Luke 14:12-14“.

CNN reported, “Those believers might say material goods are a side effect of believing in God and Christ, he says. “The focus is on getting right with God, but you know that when you get right with God, you’re going to get something for it. While the theology may attract more followers in a time of economic boom, the fact that it focuses so much on the individual and controlling one’s own heart is a comfort in tough economic times as well, Long says. Tom Brown, senior pastor of the Word of Life Church in El Paso, Texas, says wealth and prosperity are what God desires for us. Just as any parent enjoys watching their kids have fun, God delights in watching His children enjoy what money can buy,” Brown writes on the website for his ministry. “I believe God is love and He desires the best life we can have.”

All I can ask is can things get any weirder.

Oh, by the way, I am an Atheist.

I don’t get these christians and their yapping about helping the poor, yet they have multi-million dollar mega-churches paid for with the money that could have gone to help just those poor. Fucking hypocrites!
