Todd Akin is a Legitimate Idiot

Read Time:2 Minute, 31 Second

Yesterday, we hit a new low in American politics.  Congressman Todd Akin, a republican running for the senate seat in the state of Missouri, had the nerve to make a distinction between what constitutes the difference between rape and what he refers to as a ‘legitimate’ rape, which he defines as when a woman gets impregnated during a sexual assault.

To say that this guy is a moron would be an insult to morons. That being the case, let me be the first one to send out a heart-felt apology to the entire Tea Party Nation.

Congressman Akin actually went on record on a Sunday morning television program in his home state to say that according to a medical report he had read, he claimed that a raped woman isn’t able to conceive because her body secretes a series of hormones that prevents her from getting pregnant, therefore making the argument that she hasn’t ‘legitimately’ been raped.

WHAT THE FUCK?

I mean, let’s for one second put the issue of pregnancy aside for the moment and focus on the act of rape. When a woman says no and has a sexual encounter forced upon her WITHOUT her consent, THAT IS RAPE. Bottom line. Whether or not she gets pregnant is pretty much fucking irrelevant.

If you are actually going to debate what constitutes a violent act such as rape, then I really think you need to have your balls neutered and your head examined. There aren’t any shades of gray on this issue- it’s absolutely black and white.

For this major asshat to even try to make a distinction disgusts me to the core of my being. When a woman says no, she means NO. If that line is crossed, then it’s a crime. There shouldn’t even be a question.

What really frosts me about this is the message that it sends. It almost sounds as though the republicans are saying that it’s okay for men to go out and hump the first chick who gives them a hard-on. Like they can just walk away with a smile and say, “Well, I didn’t cum in her, so she can’t scream, ‘rape!’”

Ugh. I swear to God, after hearing about this shit all day, I really wish I could give my brain an enema.

Seriously, what the fuck is happening to this country? When did acts of evil become ‘acts of questionable morality?’ It seems like nowadays you can get away with anything as long as you can spin it into the proper ‘context’.

If the Republicans in this country would choose a man like this to represent them, then you really have to wonder what they truly stand for, because it sure as HELL ain’t common decency.

I think calling this guy an idiot is a real put down to the actual idiots in this country. He is in a category all on his own but I think we need to come up with a new name for it. If we put moron together with idiot we get either mordiot or idioron. Take your pick.

Best comment on this so far came from a Twitter (Tweet?) I saw yesterday: It’s August 20th, 2012. Our president just had to go on television and say rape is rape.

Head-desk.

Life in the world of the Republican nut-jobs sounds a lot like the archaic think-tank of the Bible.

The underlying message this clown is saying is that if she didn’t get pregnant she must have “wanted it.” or she did something to encourage it. The Taliban would be proud of this moron.
