Debates Are Not Games-They’re Serious Business

Read Time:2 Minute, 30 Second

I know this isn’t the first time this has happened and it probably won’t be the last, but it seems like this election cycle is more like the BCS Bowl Championship or the World Series than it is about selecting someone to lead this country for the next four years. It is unf**king believable. The pundits and news anchors are literally sounding like sports announcers before a big football game.

After the first and second debate there were the Monday morning quarterbacks declaring winners and losers based on style points, substance, or who missed this opening, or fumble on that point. To say the least it is bizarre. Everything that has gone on in the entire political campaigns up to this point seems to have been forgotten and people are waiting for the next contest. Are people in this country actually this stupid? Has everything that Mitt Romney has said up to this point simply evaporated into non existence.

PEOPLE WAKE UP!
THIS IS NOT A SPORTS EVENT!
STOP LISTENING TO THE TALKING HEADS!
PEOPLE’S LIVES MAY WELL DEPEND ON THIS ELECTION!

This is the same Mitt Romney said he opposed abortion and wants Roe v Wade overturned.

This is the same Mitt Romney that said he agreed with Paul Ryan’s original budget that would virtually end Social Security and Medicare as we know it.

This is the same Mitt Romney that said that 47% of Americans were free loaders looking for a handout and would not take responsibility for their own lives.

This is the same Mitt Romney who said that the uninsured could just catch an ambulance to the local emergency room.

This is the same Mitt Romney who lied about his tax plan and has yet to explain how he plans to pay for his promised tax cut or his increase in defense spending.

This is the same Mitt Romney that opposed the Dream Act for children who found themselves in this country through no fault of their own.

Folks, I don’t any other way to explain it. Please don’t get wrapped up in the hype about the debates. You can’t base your decision on 90 minutes of a discussion between the candidates. It is about so much more than that. It is about which one of these men, based on who they have shown themselves to be with their past behavior, you trust to lead us into the future. If someone can convince you in these few debates to trust Mitt Romney after all the lies he has told in the past then you, my friend, are one damn big sucker.

Remember this isn’t a game, despite what the media may lead you to believe, so I recommend paying close attention and deciding, for yourselves, which man is better suited to leading the country.

But debates are games sir! Just watch the TV and listen to them rabble and roil. Who won? Who won on what? Who’s ahead in the polls? WHAT? I hate the debates.

This is the same Romney that has almost half the women’s vote. Women, who he wants to subjugate. (Let them work, but be sure they’re home for 5:00 p.m. to make supper for their family.) LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Time for women who are considering voting GOP to wake up!

Very true, Rick. When asked about equal pay for equal work all Romney would address was that he had to get binders of resumes’ of women for his cabinet in Mass. Never once did he attempt to answer the question.
