A woman was attacked and killed by a group of dogs while jogging in southern California. Four animals—pit bulls and mixed breeds—have been taken from a home in Littlerock, California, NBC Los Angeles reports.

The dogs’ seizure follows a ground and helicopter search. “We had information from animal control and people [who] live in the area that dogs here match the description of the dogs that attacked,” said a police spokesman. “We had complaints before about these dogs being aggressive.

” Earlier, an officer had arrived at the scene of the violence to find one dog still attacking the woman, who later died in an ambulance. The dog reportedly charged at the officer, who fired at it, Reuters notes, though it managed to escape.

Officials are planning a DNA test to confirm the seized dogs’ identities. Two men were seen in the back seat of a police car at the home, apparently in custody, NBC notes. The dogs’ owner, a 29-year-old, was busted for growing marijuana. He could also see charges related to the attack: “That’ll be up to the DA, of course,” the spokesman said. “Anything from manslaughter to murder or nothing at all.”

I always thought jogging was just silly….oh eck…I’m in trouble again…

Look. I do sympathise with the poor ladies family and, indeed, the poor lady herself who was out and about minding her own business jogging and got bits of herself eaten.

That is bad – especially for her.

Don’t jog. It’s dangerous. Just blink regularly and that’s enough exercise for anyone.

(I have the strongest eyelids in Britain!! – and I don’t get eaten)

Jogging? – Bloody silly idea in the first place if you ask me

I foresee this becoming more and more of a problem as idiotic humans are allowed to have pets that they care nothing about. There have been several reports out of Mexico where dogs have become wild and hunt in packs and have killed several people around Mexico City. I have a guy in my neighborhood who owns about 8 beagles that he keeps penned up but they keep finding ways out of their pen and seem to gravitate to my house. I am usually able to catch them all and call him to come get his dogs. They are strictly for hunting and he gives them no attention at all and I feel sorry for them. The last time they got out I told him that the next time I was calling the Humane Society and he could pick them up there because they really upset Rascal. He was really upset and told me that one of his Beagles would probably kill Rascal. (Really. The beagle weighs about 25 lbs and Rascal weighs a solid 90 lbs) I told him that wasn’t the point. The point was that Rascal stays in his own yard and his dogs needed to stay in theirs. The Humane Society has a no kill policy but it costs him $50 per dog to get them back. If he doesn’t they find homes for them.

Again, with the blaming of the dogs like it’s their fault they are mean. You know those guys trained them to pounce, in case anyone got near their stash.

The owner of the dogs is a marijuana grower and I’ll wager he had these dogs as protection.

Even here in Brazil, there are leash laws. True, they are not always enforced but neither are the helmet laws for motorcycles or the laws about marijuana. Like many laws everywhere, they are most often used when something goes wrong.

Are there no leash laws there? I never take my dogs out unless the are on a leash and they are Yorkies. It is for their protection, too.
