Despite Biblical BS the Universe is Over 13 Billion Years Old

The truth is the universe is over 13 billion years old and it started with one great Big Freaking Bang.  Here’s some evidence for your consideration:

  • Over the last 400 years, many have contributed to the store of knowledge that has led to our present understanding of the universe.
  • People like Nicolaus Copernicus, Sir Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Georges Lemaître, Stephen Hawking, and thousands of others, have come to the conclusion that the universe was formed by a “Big Bang” some 13+billion years ago.
  • This finding is supported by the research of over 100,000 scientists engaged in the disciplines of Cosmology, Astronomy and Geology over the last 400 years.
  •  the Big Bang is the origin of our universe.
  •  the universe is approximately 13 billion years old.
  •  our solar system is approximately 4.5 billion years old.
  •  the earth was formed when our solar system was formed: 4.5 billion years ago.
  •  These scientists who do direct research on the cosmos, are supported by over 200,000 scientists who, over the years, have provided the tools (radiometric dating techniques, advanced telescopes, and etc) used by the cosmos researchers. The Big Bang is now accepted by all Cosmologists and Astronomers as being the event that initiated the universe.
  • The Big Bang theory does not claim to explain the cause of the Big Bang; merely to describe what happened afterward.
  • Most  scientists will not even hazard a guess as to what caused the Big Bang or what came before it.
  • Some individual scientists, physicists mostly, believe they can explain the why and even explain what came before the Big Bang.

So that’s that!  The Big Freaking Bang summarized in a few bullet points.  Do you think a Jesus Jumper will believe a word of what’s written here?

Telling desperate people shit they want to hear has always been a sure fire way to success. The poor hear the promise of paradise. The rich tithe in hopes of eternal life. Who doesn’t want to live in paradise forever? 70 virgins, unless they look like Roseanne Barr, all the better. All this opportunity to exploit the deluded could go up in flames if religions embraced evolution and a universe created over 14 billion years instead of 6 days.

You are tight in your assessment of religion. I doubt that admitting to evolution would destroy it, though.

All that would be needed is for a religion to state that yes, god created everything 14 billion years ago with a big bang and designed evolution to help it progress. Praise the lord!

Then they could continue to ignore everything that was inconvenient to their scam.

Not long ago, a piece of bone, radio carbon dated as being upward of 15000 years old was found at an ancient campsite in Vero Beach Florida and it had a picture of a mammoth carved on it.

You should have read the flood of idiot commentary, loaded with snark and condescension and mockery at those fools who didn’t know that the Earth was positively proven to have begun in 4000 BC.

Their kind of religion – the American kind – can not coexist with science. Ask one of them how we can see stars 100,000 light years away if they came into existence 6000 years ago and see what happens.

Karl Popper, Philosopher of Science defines science as a construct that is capable of being disproved by empirical observation. Neither stupidity or religion fits the bill. Nor does insanity of course.

We came in with a bang, we’ll go out with a bang. Who knows how many times the Universe has been through the process of beginning again. People who believe otherwise are in for a shock, the graveyards are full of disappointed customers.

You’re so right Jennings and well said indeed.

Ah, poor Mike. You are using facts and easily verifiable data. What member of the religious reich would accept anything like those instead of their chosen beliefs?

Beliefs don’t require facts or evidence. That’s far easier than thinking. When you’re not well-equipped for thinking, what else can you do?
