Top 5 Places to Work in Costa Rica

Read Time:4 Minute, 3 Second

Although Costa Rica is relatively small and doesn’t have an established military for protection, it’s nonetheless considered one of the most popular tourist destinations in Central America. As the tourism industry flourishes, so do the jobs in throughout various sectors of its economy. And other companies have made a home away from home in this republic, too. With that said, here are the top five places to work in Costa Rica.

1: Grafix Softech

Headquartered in Costa Rica, this private company began operating in 1998 with CEO Tej Kohli at the head of the table. Grafix Softech specializes in global alternative payment processing as well as fraud and data management solutions. This up and coming global giant currently employs more than 500 people, who process millions of online transactions annually.

The main focus of this company is to provide personalized service for any size business from any industry. With an innovative CEO in charge running a well-established company, many Costa Ricans have sought employment opportunities with Grafix Softech. If you live in the region and are looking to join a company who’s growing in popularity, consider applying to work at Grafix Softech.

2: Grupo Roble

Grupo Roble is the construction company that built the MultiPlaza Escara and the Eastern Multiplaza. The MultiPlaza Escara is an urban complex that consists of the Corporate Plaza Roble in Escazu Guachipelin and the Hotel Real Intercontinental in San Jose, both of which are leading commercial centers in the area.

On the other hand, the Eastern Multiplaza is located in Santa Ana and has more than 100 shops, including a massive food court, restaurants, cinemas, a financial center, and enough parking space for more than 1,000 vehicles. Employment opportunities at these MultiPlazas aren’t hard to come by, considering how big and popular both of them are.

3: Scotiabank

Scotiabank is the seventh largest bank in Costa Rica, with twelve branches scattered throughout the country. This private bank provides a variety of banking products and services for individual customers and businesses. It offers features like checking and savings accounts, loans, investments, and credit cards, along with a plethora of the other usual banking options.

With many careers to choose from, including retail banking, information technology, global banking and markets, and finance and accounting, there are plenty of opportunities available to Costa Ricans who want to work in the banking industry. What better place to earn money than the place where it’s held? Not only do employment opportunities at banks often have many opportunities for promotion, but the pay isn’t too shabby either.

4: Kimberly-Clark

Kimberly-Clark, which has been in business for approximately 140 years, has more than 58,000 employees working in 37 countries around the world. The company had $21.1 billion in sales in 2012, with brands like Kleenex, Huggies, Scott, Kotex, Pull-Ups, Depend, and Poise helping it hold the number one and two brand shares in more than 80 countries.

This global giant also has offices in Costa Rica, with a manufacturing facility in Belen; a manufacturing facility in Cartago; a distribution center in Desamparados; and a district office in Prindisa. If you’re looking for a fresh start with a massive company in Central America, Kimberly-Clark provides employment opportunities for people of all educational backgrounds.

5: SC Johnson

Ten years ago, SC Johnson started a tradition of ranking as one of the best companies to work for in Central America – and the tradition continues. The company began operating in the area in 1937, making positive impacts in the communities in which it conducts business in and remaining committed to its operations in the region. This has had a tremendous impact in solidifying its presence in Costa Rica and building a special bond with its people.

Additionally, SC Johnson was recognized for being one of the top 10 multinational workplaces in the world in 2011. This has had a major influence in attracting new talent into its headquarter offices and welcoming hard workers into its manufacturing facilities. Because of how well this company operates, Costa Ricans couldn’t be happier to have SC Johnson in its country since the 1960s. This is likely to continue in the future, so job security is a plus for new employees.

Costa Rica isn’t just a beautiful country surrounded by magnificent beaches. It’s a country that has plenty of booming industries and companies within it, making it the perfect place for someone who’s looking for a job. If you live in Costa Rica or plan on moving there, consider any one of these five companies that’s sure to treat you well and continue to grow in the future.

Went to Costa Rica on vacation 3 years ago and the beauty of this country makes you want to stay forever. Working one of these top 5 companies would be a dream to many. I will definitely have to look into how to apply for a position. Would love to go back soon to live.

I have saw many beautiful scenes of Costa Rica. They filmed one of the “Naked and Afraid” episodes there. The show’s producer was bitten by a Fer De Lance (a snake that kills hundreds of people every year) the first day they were to start shooting. They also have the Bushmaster there. I think I will just keep looking at films of the scenery. It is sort of like Australia which is beautiful to look at but has 7 of the top ten most deadly snakes in the world and one of the most deadly spiders. I know we have some bad actors here in the south but I know these critters here and how to deal with them.
