Murder means little in Florida, at least when it’s done under the guise of the infamous “stand your ground” law.  In addition the irrational and wrong-headed interpretation of the Second Amendment puts all Americans at risk of being shot and killed by some drunken lunatic who has the “right” to carry a gun.

A blind man who shot a drinking buddy in the chest has been reunited with his guns after winning immunity from prosecution under the Florida’s bizarre Stand Your Ground law. The judge in Sanford, the city where George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin, said he had no choice but to give John Wayne Rogers his guns back, Gawker reports. I have to return property that was taken under the circumstance,” he said. “I have researched and haven’t found case law to say otherwise.”

The former Marine was reunited with his Glock handgun and the Remington assault rifle he shot his friend with from a distance of around 18 inches. The state, in a rare “wise” move decided his ammunition was “too old and dangerous” to return.

After the hearing, Rogers—who fired 15 rounds from a handgun at his cousin during another drunken night four years ago, according to the Orlando Sentinel—told reporters he wants to go armed because it is his “constitutional right.”

I don’t know which is dumber. The fool who shot himself or the court that released those guns to a blind murderer.

I’m reminded of that classic Gene Hackman scene in Young Frankenstein. Only instead of hot soup and cigars, this bozo’s packin’ heat!

There is a saying in the Marines that the most dangerous weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle. They can now add to that. The most dangerous thing in the world now is a blind Marine and his guns. Who the hell gives a blind man guns.

I left a comment on the Lil Ricky Perry story about this too. I was reading it coming back from AZ, another place, where stupidity is running rampant with stupid laws forced on the people there.

Florida – truly Darwin’s waiting room. The only state that can make Texas look good.

WTF? a legally blind person with a history of drunken gun violence has a “constitutional right” to carry a weapon?

I hope that someday we reach the point where everyone in the USA will regard this as being a stupidly insane as the rest of the world does the USA now.
