Nature Cancels Michael Vick Appearance At Raleigh, NC Chamber
It seems that the best made plans of mice and men oft go awry, or, in this case the best laid plans of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. It seems the massive winter storm that’s approaching the south and southeast has forced the cancellation of convicted dog fighter Michael Vick, scheduled to keynote the annual Greater Raleigh Sports Council’s Evening of Champions on Wednesday.
Despite Mother Nature’s fortuitous entry into the controversy, the chamber remained devoted to their task, changing Vick’s engagement to February 27th, despite the protests by thousands and thousands of people who objected to a man who tortured, in the most brutal of ways, hundreds, and hundreds of innocent dogs. Perhaps the Great Dog God was watching over the city of Raleigh as, once again, and most fortuitously, Vick was unable to attend the new date due to a prior engagement.
There’s no word as to whether or not Raleigh’s feckless chamber will attempt to re-book the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback. Raleigh can now return to some sense of normalcy, and the more compassionate among us can breathe a sigh of easy relief.
The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce should get no credit for this, on the contrary, they were so anxious to have this person appear they actually tried to reschedule him despite the vigorous objections from caring folk. The committed public have long memories when it comes to animal abuse and I doubt that those who objected so vigorously to Vick’s appearance will soon forget the arrogant, irresponsible actions of this chamber.

Believe me not the first time this has happened. After the fiasco in Dallas where the mayor handed over a key to the City of Dallas to the idiot- and Mv then snubbed a reporter who happens to be the dad of one of the Vicktory dogs-it caused such an uproar that the key given to him was rescinded, apologies made and a key was presented to Mel (the Vicktory Dog) in the shape of a biscuit. Protest works.
Protest does work Irene. Thanks for stopping by.
You ROCK, Mike! Thanks for your support! #RaleighSaysNoToVick
Thanks Tammy. Couldn’t have done it without the help of all you good folk, particularly Sarah Williams who tipped me to it in the first place and provided me with a lot of detail.
Good.
You can bet we don’t forget. I, as do many, stand ready to protest if the man tries to come to Raleigh in the future, especially if he’s invited to speak to young people.
Thank you for spreading the word Mad Mike.
Glad to do it Leslie. Great cause!
I don’t know about that. Now any city wanting to book him (that doesn’t have his PR firm firmly entrenched there) will look at what should have been easy in Raleigh and the uproar it caused.
Oh – you can bet we won’t forget the Chamber and its reckless and reprehensible actions.
I hear that Tammy! Make sure I get the scoop 🙂
That’s for sure Tammy! I live in NC and will do all I can to make sure there is a “CHANGE” at the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce!
This gave our area a big old ugly black eye that will have to heal. But it will! Because a “CHANGE” is a comin!!
Yep. He got out of this one James, although I suspect that sooner or later the head honchos at the Chamber may get their comeuppance. Then again one never knows.
Now, everyone has an excuse, no one has to apologize, and Vick slides by the easy way again.
