So this morning I was thrilled to see that HG had managed to fix the problem during the early morning hours, and it was about time. I’m no fan of this web host but finding another, and making the migration, is a huge pain in the ass. That being said, however, after yesterday’s fiasco the time has come the walrus said to find a new host, a reliable one.
My sincere apologies to all my loyal readers and for those who might take the time to return after meeting with ERROR 522 and being denied access. We will try to do better.
HostGator left this message on their FaceBook page:
Just a quick update on the work we’ve done to restore our network. Our Networks Operation team uncovered a bug in firmware utilized in our vendor’s hardware that caused the network issues, which impacted some of our customers. We worked closely with the vendor to establish and implement a bug fix. That fix is now being executed and propagating across the network. During this rollout, you may find some performance inconsistencies, which will resolve fairly quickly. Our entire team remains engaged and committing to fully restoring services and performance for all impacted customers.

OK, and what does this teach us about the struggles with the roll-out of the Affordable Care Act website?????
I thought so. 🙂

It’s your place Mike and your call. I am sorry it happened because I know you and how frustrated you can get. But all in all it is a rarity compared to some places.

It’s not a rarity Bill. I’ve been struggling with this host ever since they were bought out by a huge corporation. In point of fact, though, I no longer tie myself into knots because it’s out of my control. I can, and will, however, find a host that offers a 100% uptime guarantee.

I don’t suppose it was really their fault old bean. I saw the amount of spam coming in on comments. Weird! I’d stay where you are….better the devil you know eh?

No. This isn’t the first time with them. They are supposed to safeguard against such eventualities.

I think almost everyone figured it out anyway. It happens to the best hosts and servers. Nothing we can do but stand aside and let the techno-weenies do their job. Luckily, they are normally very good. I have to say that because I was a techno-weenie for years. 😀
