Read Time:17 Second

I’m a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, and whatever you think of the Sanders’ campaign and how they should have handled this protest or the group’s concerns, I don’t think the activists here did the movement any favors with these tactics and the name-calling. From the Seattle Times: Black Lives Matter protesters shut down…

Citing the anniversary of Brown’s death, they said, “We honor black lives by doing the unthinkable, the unapologetic, and the unrespectable. Activists with the movement have shut down Seattle streets and local events before, arguing such direct action is needed to shake people out of complacency over the deaths of black men and women at the hands of police.

Pissing off (on?) allies and potential allies with puerile, insulting b.s. is not the hallmark of anything successful. Grow up.

All it accomplishes is to make enemies where before their “unthinkable” actions were allies.

These people are hurting their own cause and clearly aren’t smart enough to see it.

Oh, and when I say “you” I don’t mean you OK? Just a rhetorical habit of mine I’m still fully committed to equal justice for all and I assume you are too.

The opposite of white supremacy is not ipso facto the antidote to it. Being against injustice doesn’t make you just and opposing the idea that all lives matter makes you my enemy, the enemy of freedom and all things right, true and decent. Tell me all lives don’t matter. Tell me the basic tenet of humanism makes me a racist. I certainly hope the real racists don’t use this smug arrogance to denounce the efforts of centuries.

Frankly I’m sick of the witch hunt, the opposition to due process, the rules of evidence and the presumption of innocence all in the name of “justice” If all lives don’t matter, justice is a joke. They’re dividing, not just America, but they’re dividing friends from friends, allies from allies and if I’m a racist unless I recite a catechism, a litany and a credo, you’ve created a self-fulfilling, and a self-defeating thing here.

If anyone wants to call Sanders a racist, they deserve a President Trump.
