Read Time:2 Minute, 37 Second

Maine is synonymous with lobster, and for good reason:  The region has some of the best tasting lobster, and best lobster restaurants, in the world. If you are travelling to Maine, make time for some of the best places and activities for lobster lovers, like these:

Lubec

The easternmost town in the United States, Lubec is a great place for lobster lovers and tourists alike. With a myriad of different restaurants that serve the iconic dish, you can eat all the lobster you’ve ever wanted. The town’s his home to many traditional lobster boats, and you can watch them go out to sea from the lighthouse on the edge of the water. There’s only about 1,300 residents in Lubec, and the small-town feel, not to mention the picturesque views and incredible food, make it a popular spot to visit. Becky’s Seafood is said to have some of the best seafood in Lubec, and is definitely worth a visit.

This little shack in Georgetown, on the edge of Sheepscot Bay, would be easy to miss, if it wasn’t for the line of people queued up to get their hands on some of the best lobster and seafood in Maine. During lobster season, this little stand sells anywhere from 20,000 to 30,000 pounds  of seafood!. There’s no indoor seating, but the sweeping views of the bay and beach more than make up for it; just be sure to bring a sweater, especially if you visit near sunset! You can pick your own lobster from the tank, and there’s a fry shack that can provide all the fried side dishes you could ever want. Do plan to stand in line, but the food is more than worth the wait.  Can’t make it to Maine? Check out Lobster Place, which can fulfill all your lobster wants and needs.

Maine Lobster Festival

Running from late July to early August, this festival is located at Harbor Park in Rockland, Maine, and is tons of fun for both the young and the young at heart. Featuring a 10k race, lobster crate racing, arts and crafts, and a parade, plus all the lobster you could eat, of course. A cooking contest gives residents a chance to show off their skills, and entertainment keeps the party going all day. Buy your tickets ahead of time to guarantee admission, and join lobster lovers from around the world at this one-of-a-kind event. Also, be sure not to miss the Maine Sea Goddess Coronation, a tradition since the festival’s beginning in 1948. There’s also a marine tent available for curious youngsters that displays the many different types of sea life living along Maine’s gorgeous coastline. There are also tons of carnival rides for the enjoyment of all.

Whether you’re making your first trip to Maine or it is a yearly tradition, Maine is a dream destination for lobster lovers, and is sure not to disappoint. There are many different quaint lobster towns to visit, along with restaurants and other enjoyable destinations to fill up your time in this beautiful state.
