Why I Didn’t Watch The Mandarin Candidate’s Speech On Thursday
I’ve been staying away from politics lately. Well, I’ve tried to, anyway. But with the information overload of the RNC, it’s been like trying to avoid the rain with a crocheted umbrella. I’ve watched coverage from quite a few sources and skipped the commentary sections so I could form my own take on their policies and agendas. Here are the things they’ve told us about their plans for making this country great again.
1. ……….
I got nothing. Nothing of substance. Nothing of vision. Nothing in the way of mentioning plans. Nothing looking forward. Nothing BUT fear. And a little hatred mixed in to taste. The benediction that sparked off Ragefest 2016 was held by a preacher who prayed to his loving god and rebuked a large amount of people as the enemy and specifically named the opposing party’s candidate the enemy as well. A D-list actor and former underwear model from the Reagan era showed up and accused our president of having a different religion from him. A C-list former child star and current adult moron talked about his faith and values after spending the day laughing about calling a woman the “C” word.
The candidate’s wife came out and gave a poised but slightly less original speech than expected to millions on live TV and thousands of live audience members in what must have been a terrifying experience for her. I don’t blame her. She’s a cog in the machine of his campaign and that cog did it’s purpose. She did as she was told. The campaign then spent 2 days giving even lamer excuses than good ol’ Slick Willy parsing the definition of the word “is”.
Then, a grieving mother who suffered a loss in Benghazi and has been fed a steady diet of misinformation supplemented with angry pills combined with mob mentality was paraded out to go after HRC with an axe in need of grinding. She supports the party that investigated the bejesus out of that incident and admitted they couldn’t find any wrongoing. She did what she was told so she could have an audience for her anger. I’m sure it was cathartic for her, no matter how misguided.
A police officer of color that believes BLM is a terrorist organization and praises the fact that Freddie Gray apparently murdered himself while the officers in charge of him are innocent of all charges gets a round of thunderous applause. Conveniently he will be discarded after this news cycle and never called on for his service again. He too, saw an outlet for his hatred despite that hatred being based on rhetoric rather than fact.
Chris Christie holding his mock court?!? Tell you what, Mayor McCheese, when you’re not being investigated for corruption charges, you can have your pass back to throw stones at the other kids. You WERE a federal prosecutor. Now you’re just a monumental embarrassment. Go get your shine-box, Chrissy! Next!
Add all of this together with the talk about immigrants equaling terrorists, minorities not ever having contributed to society, and the veiled Nazi-esque salutes and I only come up with a couple of conclusions. Either they’re so fired up with hatred and fear that they’re blind to the blatant display of fascism or they’re so convinced of this idyllic mayonnaise, cotton balls, and Cool Whip vision of America that they’re willing to turn on its founding principles to get to a place and time that never existed. We left it to Beaver 60+ year ago. His generation grew into the one that now supports this ass-hattery.
I didn’t watch the Mandarin Candidate’s speech last night. I won’t waste one second listening to his drivel and bombastic, self-promoting, and arrogant attempt at an acceptance speech. I don’t need to hear his “the best words” to know that the pucker factor is climbing much faster than global temperatures and he’ll use nothing but fear and intimidation as his message.
America, Election Season is coming!
It was a disgusting spectacle of hate, and perhaps the worst I’ve seen since 1968. The Republicans took four days to die, but die they did in Cleveland.
I watched the entire 4-day circus with the sound off while reading several blog posts covering the festival of hate. It’s far more palatable that way and healthier too.
For someone who acts as if you’re not interested in Trump you sure do have a lot to say about him.
It might surprise you that there a millions of Americans who like what trump has to say and actually go out and vote for him.
I’m also amazed as to how is able to push so many buttons that folks just can’t stop potty-mouthing him. He loves all that press since he believe no press is bad press.
Every damned phrase is a fallacy. Do you read what you write?
a: Since you’re opposed to Trump everything you say is false. WTF?
b: his supporters support him – OK, that’s a tautology, not a fallacy.
c: He outrages people so it’s amazing that people say foul things about him. That’s just plain non-sequitur.
d: Guilt is not a problem since there is no such thing as guilt. Res Ipsa Loquitur, dude, I don’t have to point out that it’s insane.
Heil Trump! Yeah, I think the same thing. Did you ever think that one person would just steam roll the Republican Party like they were little dandelions in a garden and then tell them to get in line. He used their own “toe the party line” against them.
