Bernie Sanders: FBI Director Comey Should Resign

(NEWSER) – James Comey has been receiving renewed scrutiny for releasing letters about Hillary Clinton’s email scandal right before Election Day, with both the FBI and the DOJ now under the microscope as part of an official probe into those actions by a DOJ watchdog.
But before that investigation is complete, Bernie Sanders wonders if there might be something else Comey could do for the American people, ABC News reports, including Comey taking a “hard look” at his role and making his next move accordingly. “I think it would not be a bad thing for the American people if he did step down,” Sanders said Sunday on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, adding that Comey’s actions were “outrageous” and “unacceptable.”
Sanders also pegged it as “interesting” that Comey isn’t plowing ahead with any investigations into allegations about possible ties between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia.
Reince Priebus, Donald Trump’s soon-to-be White House chief of staff, doesn’t foresee Comey going anywhere, however. “There’s no plans in this moment of changing that,” he said on the same program, per the Hill.
