There is a legitimate question that this country must resolve. If North Korea does have even one nuclear warhead on one intercontinental ballistic missile we must decide to accept them as a nuclear power and deal with them as such or to try to force or coerce them back to non nuclear status. Because I see no reasonable way of the second scenario happening the only other option is to go to war with them. Thinking about that scares the hell out of me. In a best case scenario where Russia and China stay out of it I would see a conservative estimate of one million dead in Seoul, South Korea in the first 24 hours and if they do have at least one nuclear missile 250,000 dead on the West Coast of the U.S. Yes, probably we would crush them in month if for no other reason they would start starving by to death, but the cost by today’s standards would be atrocious.
So, in reality, there is another option. Accept them them as a limited nuclear power and enter into talks with them on that level.
