Rage In the Age of Trump

Read Time:1 Minute, 6 Second

by Glenn R. Geist

I’ve been witnessing an increase in aggressive, even reckless driving, and from talking to others who drive the same roads, I’m not alone. The morning news reports that there has been a similar incidence of unruly, abusive and violent airline passengers as well. I’ve commented several times about the anger epidemic. Some agree, others don’t.

I’m suggesting that it’s a byproduct of the political turmoil that’s had the country divided along every seam, as the fabric of our society is being pulled apart like Trump’s golf pants as he bends to pick up a ball.

I’ve noticed that at social events, it’s become difficult to talk about anything without being confronted and challenged for your password and that the most obvious facts are disputed along party lines.

Is this raging ferment a result of the Trump insurgency or is he the result of the rage itself? Is this about America expressing dissatisfaction with real circumstances or manufactured ones?  Is it about being goaded to fight each other like dogs in a pit while unseen observers place their bets?

I think it’s getting harder to get from one place to another without feeling the effects, both on the road and in the air — in interpersonal relationships and communications.

Turn on the tube folks, The revolution is being televised.

If they could just keep it off the road.

This ‘rage’ isn’t confined to the USA mate…it’s all over the place.

I’ve been raging ever since November 8, 2016.

You listen to his apologists and wonder about people who can’t tell that the two year old with chocolate on his hands actually did steal that cookie even though he says it’s fake news. Insanity is catching and they’ve caught a huge dose.

I have noticed that the Trump supporters I know are on the defensive. They are reverting to “whataboutism”.

What about Bill Clinton when he . . .

What about Obama when he . . .

And of course
What about Hillary, in regards to anything. They hate her more than anything.

I regularly trash the Trumper in my classes, when appropriate and fitting for the material being taught at the time, and occasionally I can see some anger flare. I also overheard a conversation between a couple of idiots at the local Target where they were talking about how great Trump is. When they saw me looking at them, they wilted, and averted their eyes. It’s like they were ashamed to think, much less say, Trump is anything more than a complete idiot.

Don’t forget Obama. Lou Dobbs wants Obama arrested. He’s not really American, you know.

You wonder why Americans renouncing their citizenship are setting new records?
