At the Ministry of Truth Only Lies Are True

Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

But these are the days of advance, the works of the men of mind,
When who but a fool would have faith in a tradesman’s ware or his word?

-Tennyson-

The story has it, that when bank robber Willie “The Actor” Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, he answered, “Because that’s where the money is.”

That appears to be apocryphal, or in more current terms: “Fake News.” I checked it on Snopes.

Recent efforts by Google to check basic facts in the statements you look up are making “conservatives” very upset according to Gizmodo. Perhaps that’s because one of the results of the Newspeak revolution is to define truth only as the opinions, the fictions, and propaganda of some authoritarian Ministry of Truth.

The proof that fact checkers are biased and dishonest when they contradict the party line or the proclamations of Trump of course, is that most of the debunked stories are “conservative” and you’ll hear that flimsy logic used by people like Tucker Carlson and you’ll hear it without the appropriate suggestion that more lies than truths are untrue, which seems tautological and that makes the “conservative” attempt to falsify tautologies questionably.

Truth tellers are biased against lie tellers. I don’t need Wittgenstein to tell me this is tautological (and I can’t understand him when he does)

So of course:  to prove that Snopes, Politifact or a National Newspaper of Record inter alia, isn’t biased, one would normally refer to the verifiable facts themselves, but of course those facts can only be verified in a trustworthy fashion by those asserting them to be true. Right?

You see, fact checkers are not trustworthy with regard to the party line because they often find that line to be false and therefore they can’t be trusted.

That sounds an awful lot like I’m saying only lies are true but don’t think about it. You’ll just get confused. Just trust me and you know that Liberals lie anyway, don’t you?  That’s why we call them Liberals.

A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. I think Winston Churchill said that, I’ll have to check.

That sounds like something Winston would have said, him and George Orwell of course 🙂
