Why Uncontrolled Immigration Is Destroying Britain’s Infrastructure

Read Time:3 Minute, 33 Second

There are two very simple reasons why Britain’s infrastructure is crumbling. Both reasons are inextricably intertwined to the extent that they pretty much become one reason.

The reason is the complete and abject failure of consecutive governments to in any way control immigration along with the numbers of immigrants arriving in Britain. Before I go on I want to make it clear this in no way is the fault of the immigrants themselves.

Immigration from the European Union could not, of course, be controlled as membership required open borders. That is, perhaps, the one excuse consecutive governments can use in their defense.

Immigration from the Commonwealth is difficult to control as Commonwealth citizens are allowed into Britain – not really an acceptable excuse for consecutive governments as they could have changed the law to prevent this.

Read: America’s Right and Britain’s Left: Democracy Under Threat

Immigration from elsewhere is easily controlled but hasn’t been.

Right. So. Having established consecutive governments are to blame and immigrants are in no way to blame, how is Britain’s infrastructure collapsing? Numbers. It’s as simple as that.

If a countries infrastructure is designed to cater for 1 million people and is not sufficiently invested in, whilst another 1 million people arrive guess what? The infrastructure crumbles.

It isn’t rocket science. Neither is it racist or xenophobic to say it. Britain has far too many people living here for the infrastructure to cope. Immigration is and has always been, a numbers game.

The only argument I hear in favor of immigration is that ‘immigration is a boon for Britain’. Invariably those who say that fail to include the important word – ‘controlled’.

With controls, the doctors and nurses and everyone else who are settled here and benefited Britain would still be here. The hundreds of thousands who have settled here, appreciate being here, treat Britain as their home and with respect, work and pay their taxes would still be here.

With controls, the infrastructure could have been improved to sustain the controlled growing numbers.

If I know that then clearly pretty much every politician in the land knows that, yet none will say it. None will acknowledge the bleedin’ obvious publicly. I can only assume a fear of being tarred as racist and xenophobic prevents them acknowledging what is clearly before them.

Read: An Englishman Talks About Britain First

Precisely what to do about it becomes irrelevant. If the politicians refuse to acknowledge it then, clearly, they plan to do absolutely nothing about it and the situation will continue to deteriorate until our infrastructure finally collapses – and it’s nearer to doing so than most people like to believe.

Our National Health Service is on the point of collapse purely due to the demands – numbers of people – being made on it.

Schools are turning down children who live two streets away because they are already full.

Our roads are becoming increasingly gridlocked.

The government says we have to concrete over our green spaces to build homes for the rapidly increasing population.

Personally, I’m off to buy some water wings to prepare for Blighty sinking into the sea from the sheer weight of people here.

Read: Why There is Nothing Wrong With Being White

Oh, and don’t bother those of you who intend to bleat on that I’m racist and xenophobic.

Yeah. Whatever. Go back and read the capitals. It isn’t the fault of immigrants that there are too many of them over here. They’re here so we live with it. We just need to seriously control any more and that isn’t racist, that’s protecting our country and our quality of life.

People are having operations postponed. The odd one dies. Never mind eh? They were old.

People are having to send their children miles away from the nearest school as the closer ones are full.

People are spending so long in traffic jams it’s only a matter of time before someone starves to death in one.

People don’t want our green spaces built on.

They want their country to be theirs in the way they want. That would be a democracy if it really existed.

I cannot attest to the problem of the Brits but I can say that the major offender, or at least supporter, of the immigration problems in the U.S has been the major American corporation that really wanted cheap labor that they could not from Americans. Thus, the illegals were not only accepted but solicited by these corporations. Then America went through a couple of periods of high unemployment periods and suddenly the immigrants were the problem. The American CHamber of Commerce fought the immigration policies for years until now 12 million people who have worked and live in the country for generations are seen as interlopers who must be chased from the country. A Republican from Kansas stated that those in the DACA category, some as old as 24 are now taking jobs from young Americans. Actually, the truth is that the young people in DACA have busted their butts and gotten educated and earned their jobs while young Americans have diddled around on social media and are demanding their entitlement not on their merits.

Very similar over here old bean. The big companies keep pay low through immigration.

Unemployment is quite low but so are decent living wages.

Neil, you say in a few sentences what others take a week to spit out. You’re a good old bean.

Confession. I had to google old bean to see what it meant.

A desperate workforce makes for happy CEO’s. Clever how immigration actually benefits my fellow republicans, the wealthy ones anyway. Yet we use it to stir up the ignorant and blissfully ignorant of the big picture voter so they keep voting republican.
Not sure if this has much to do with your post Neil but I’ve been away and missed engaging with you.

It does indeed Joe.

Both the Tory’s and Blair’s Labour looked after their wealthy business paymasters by allowing mass immigration to keep wages low.

The union’s, traditionally left wing, couldn’t shout against such tactics without being branded racist.

The rich bosses won.

Sorry, but this is a little too pat, ridiculously so. Yes, uncontrolled immigration has been a bane for Britain. That was government policy – right or wrong – and it can be changed for the future, if not undone for the past. I’m not sure this has all that much to do with infrastructure. It will have *cultural* consequences, in that large numbers of immigrants to a small country can have far-reaching consequences for the daily life of that country, especially if the immigrants form a large enough body to become a block of people who can exist w/o necessarily being assimilated into the already existing culture.

It might help to remember that Great Britain is roughly the size of the state of Oregon with a bit of southern Washington State thrown in. Import several million Poles or Greeks or ANY fairly cohesive social group into a small area and there may be assimilation problems. The US has not had that particular problem yet to the same extent, except in the matter of Spanish speakers who, because of their sheer bulk in certain areas, may not feel so great a need for learning English as a smaller group of immigrants might. (We’ll pass over the awkward fact that in some areas Spanish speakers might have been in the area *before* any influx of English speakers. [cough])

On the other hand, Britain’s infrastructure – as opposed to cultural – problems are the result of governmental decisions about economic priorities. They have a history of idiotic privatizations that have wrecked previously stabile institutions (just ask a Brit what s/he thinks of the current British rail operations), and of criminal under-funding of others (the National Health Service. . .”You want sheets on your bed, love? Sorry, you’ll have to go private for that). They have the same tax problems that we currently have; i.e., the rich are exempted, healthy corporations are fattened with exemptions, and the poor are made poorer by “austerity measures” for the supposed good of the country, all which will require “sacrifice” (if only from the poor) and a “stiff upper lip” (not surprisingly also on the part of the poor). They also have an inflated notion of their world importance left over from their Imperial past and the more recent World War II era when they did, indeed, stand virtually alone against Hitler. All that is over and, no, it doesn’t really matter all that much to world peace whether Britain spends millions or billions on nuclear submarines. . .yet they feel they must in order to be a “world power.”

So, Immigration is indeed a problem in Britain because huge numbers of people have been – sometimes deliberately (yes) – imported into an already cramped space, so huge a number that the pressure of assimilation no longer need apply as previously, and who are now easily able to bring pressure onto the host country to change its ways to fit the beliefs and customs of the new-comers. This very real problem certainly will have an impact on infrastructure in general (say, in housing because more is needed), but that problem is brutally exacerbated by governmental policies (such as selling off low-rent council properties to private buyers without replacing those former properties, and then not expanding the low-rent opportunities in general). Britain’s policies in the immediate past (the iniquitous Thatcher and her successors, including Blair) and still now in the present are all too similar to those which control US policy, both towards the world at large (the continuous War Machine, though on a smaller scale in Britain) and towards the common people (feed the rich, starve everyone else).

“They want their country to be theirs in the way they want” So is this the equivalent of “we want our country back” the dog whistle heard round the world .

Some do indeed say that but, realistically, that horse rode off a long time ago.

What I mean by that is we don’t want our infrastructure crumbling further with more increases in population through immigration.

If it does everybody’s quality of life reduces whether immigrant or not.

It’s the numbers that are the problem.

Whether there are too many or you need more, it’s really not up to me to say, but as an American it’s a bit smug to tell any other country – particularly an island country to let in more immigrants, when even returning US tourists are having a hard time getting home. Try getting a Swiss visa.

Governments over the last decades whether Labour or Tory….they follow on from each other when elected therefore are consecutive….following each other
