How All Trump, All the Time Feeds the Beast

Read Time:2 Minute, 30 Second

by Michael John Scott

The news isn’t always about Donald Trump, but when it isn’t we don’t learn about it.  You see, the Big Pig monopolizes the airwaves, and, in some cases print and digital media.  For example, more than half of the stories in today’s New York Times and even here at MadMikesAmerica are about the Oval Office occupant.

Is this sort of 24-hour coverage feeding the beast?  After all, who wouldn’t want to dominate the US news cycle, even if that news isn’t favorable?  Most of us know Donald Trump loves it, despite his “fake news” protestations.

Make no mistake, Trump is the beast, feeding on headlines, and loving to hate it, all the while activating his twitter finger, relishing the opportunity to attack, and dominate the news yet once again and still.  It’s a vicious cycle, with no beginning and no end.

All morning I’ve been listening to cable news, and not once did I hear world news mentioned, so here’s a story that’s important given US interests in Afghanistan:

(NEWSER) An Afghan official says that at least 18 people, including 14 foreigners, have been killed when the Taliban attacked the Intercontinental Hotel in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul.

A spokesman for the Interior Ministry Najib Danish said that 11 of the 14 foreigners killed were employees of KamAir, a private Afghan airline, reports the AP.

He added that 10 others were wounded, including six security officers and four civilians. KamAir also put out an announcement saying some of its flights were disrupted because of the attack.

Witnesses told the BBC that the gunmen burst into a dining room yelling, “Where are the foreigners?” Guests were photographed attempting to escape the hotel via bed sheets tied to their balconies.

Ukraine says one of its citizens was killed in the attack. Afghan officials say insurgents’ assault on the luxury hotel began late Saturday and set off clashes with security forces that lasted more than 13 hours.

All the attackers were killed by security forces. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the insurgents initially planned to attack the hotel Thursday night but postponed the assault because there was a wedding underway and they wanted to avoid civilian casualties.

Is it time to ask that tired and worn question “what can we do?”  It is time but there needs to be an answer, and that answer is to write and write hard; to march, and march hard; to scream at the top of our lungs: “We’re not going to take it anymore,” and to do something about it.  Actually do something, no matter how small do something about it.

We should always keep in mind that the grotesque parody of a president squatting in the People’s House must not be allowed to win.  Not today; not tomorrow; not ever.  The news cycle will continue to be dominated by The Bloviator in Chief but instead of feeding him, let’s choke him instead.  The outcome would be decidedly more favorable to all of us.

It’s a circle. Some rando puts info up, Faux Snooze reports it, dolt 45 tweets about it after seeing it on Faux Snooze and the cycle lives to breathe another day.

Yesterday after the woman’s march in the city my aunts and I went and had a really late lunch/ early dinner. I met this really cool Swedish tourist dude and my old goat of an aunt said, you better get his number for when you are ready to be out there again you might have an escape from this bullshit happening here, you are still young and don’t have to be tied down. She is jonesing for me to start getting out there and I have to constantly remind her, you know my hubby just died a few months ago, she tells me “then he won’t have any issues if you start dating again” I love my aunt but there are times I could kill her if I thought I could get away with it.

He’s one beast that would take some starving. The main news media are chiefly to blame for him hogging the headlines, they’ve given him free publicity for years.

Sadly, that’s because he’s just such a trainwreck–the disaster you can’t stop watching…

So “what do we do?” LOL. I know, it’s not a laughing matter, but still, there’s only so much that can be done. I’m active on FB, all anti-Trump, and my mom now hates me because she loves him, so there’s sacrifice.
