Phooey on that. The devil is in the fact that there are many reasons for keeping a car, many uses for a car, many circumstances that have little to do with reliability and most certainly we all appreciate cars for different reasons. A choice of car is as personal as any other choice and maybe more so to a car nut like me. It has a lot to do with climate and income and age, etc.
My first car was 56 when I sold it. It was made in Detroit. It may still be on the road. I only sold it because of a divorce. And as far as I know the record for endurance at over three million miles belongs to a Volvo P1800 which belongs to a car guy not a safety mom. (I wouldn’t mind having one of those)
I own three cars at the moment I’ve had one for 16 years, another for 12 and one for 7. Nothing on that list would ever tempt me. There is not one car on that list I would not immediately sell or would ever have bought in the first place. Most aren’t even cars!
Sorry, I like cars. I’m understating it – I love cars. I’m all about cars. I dream about cars and I fall in love with cars. I would rather watch Dave Kindig, or Dan Short or Chip Foose or Richard Rawlings or a dozen others build a car than watch football. You can bury my heart at the Milan Dragway. So sorry, Mr. Clark, whoever you are, I’m not buying.
