How Donald Trump Wants to Screw the Consumer Again

While we are distracted by the latest diversion placed before us by the guy in the Oval Office, it might interest you to know that he wants to eliminate all consumer protections.
The Trump administration just announced they’re “reconsidering” the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau’s rule protecting people from predatory payday & car title lending. This is a comically evil decision that borders on self-parody. And it won’t get the attention it deserves.
Seriously. You just cannot make this stuff up folks. This guy is literally altering the entire way our society functions, allowing companies – under the auspices of ‘capitalism’ to lend money at interest rates so high it literally imprisons an individual.
The car-title lending is just as bad. Think about it; You find yourself in a bind, you see a commercial, they tell you to call, you do, and the next thing you know it, you miss a payment. Now, what happens?
The sad part is everybody KNOWS what happens and there were protections put into place to protect citizens from this type of abuse, but now? No more.
They can say he is reconsidering all day, but we know what will end up occurring, don’t we? It really IS like he is just trying to eradicate Mr. Obama’s legacy from the history books. What a child.
The extraction of wealth from our nation continues, with the exception that the man has actually accelerated the pace. Why? They are rushing to beat the clock – in my opinion – on the Russia investigation.

Then, when it is all too plain to see, the GOP will act oh so very patriotic about the matter with the hopes that the American people will forget that they have thrown every road block up to try to prevent us – yes you and me through our representatives – to getting at the truth.
And as I pen these words, we have a GOP led Congress – instead of passing a clean DACA or CHIP program placing the two together holding the lives of Dreamers hostage or NINE MILLION children.
If I were a Democratic lawmaker I would walk away and EXPLAIN to the American people clearly and concisely just as I did right here WHY they refuse to vote for the bill.
Should the bill fail, it will be on the Republicans, right? I mean they do hold all three branches of government.
They will stall, block, aid and abet until they get their entire agenda pushed through. Remember Grover Norquist when Romney was their candidate?
“We just need a human with digits to sign what we tell him to sign,” was his response when asked why he could back Mitt Romney who did not seem to know what he stood for other than the fact that “47% of the people are not going to vote for me, because they get free stuff, and I don’t care about those 47%?”
Well, the digits they have. The brain? Not needed. No assembly required with this one folks.
If you ask me, each of those in the GOP “acted” so disillusioned that Trump was their nominee. Even good old Lyndsey Graham has pulled a 180 degree turn, despite Trump denying the accounting of events which occurred in the Oval Office last week regarding countries of Africa.
One would THINK that this would be the red-line for Graham, seeing how Trump is basically calling him a liar, right? Nope. Where was his rage through that hearing yesterday? I do declare.
But our memories won’t fade will they folks? Has anyone here wondered why three prominent Republican lawmakers, in addition to a number of others, are “just retiring?” Hmm. Not I!

Never mind pay day and car title lending, budget director Mulvaney, just requested zero funding for the CFPB. He wants the money returned to the treasury to “help with the deficit”, all 145 million of it will surely make a dent in the deficit. Yeah because as we all know, helping out all those American citizens being screwed by big business is a really bad thing. I hate these people with the heat of a thousand suns, I cannot say it enough and have no other way to describe the burning hate, yes hate, I have for them for what they are doing to us, mainly the ones that have no voice.
You are quite right that Trump feels that he must eradicate every action taking by Barrack Obama as if he could be erased from history books. The one who will go down to shame and disgrace in our history books is Donald Trump. The asterisk by his name will be to indicate the worst president in the history of our country.

I clearly recall everyone who supported Trump tell me the matter had “nothing to do with Obama,” and I always have felt that it has. I also remember when the Tea Party was swept into power, looking at both Susan and her Mom who had been with us due to illness, especially on the night of their victory, telling them both that the Republican Party was no more. I also told them that the majority of the disdain for then President Obama was rooted in issues with his race. We could not prove much back then, however you can see that the prophetic utterance made by me that night, was pretty well spot on.
We stand at a crossroads in our nation now, and the Republican party is failing immensely in this arena. The appearance of their saying how much they feel he is acting inappropriately on television networks only to then support his agenda demonstrates their complicity in his behavior. His racist proclivities are well-documented from his business, his property leasing, the way he would not allow “blacks to handle his money on the floor of casinos he owned,” insisting another demographic handle the money,” spoke volumes, and yet despite all of this, it mattered little. My greatest beef as you know is how “White Evangelicals in particular” not only pulled the lever for the man, when presented with two other alternatives, but also their persistent continued support. Not one White Evangelical leader – to my knowledge – has spoken out against this man’s actions in any form or fashion specifically those related to his commentary about African countries.

Well he said he could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and get away with it. Thank God for President Obama. They claimed he did nothing in 8 years. Well 45 sure is undoing all of his 8 years of nothing that’s for sure! Oh but the chickens will come home to roost!
Those chickens will most certainly come home to roost. November is going to be an interesting time in our electoral politics. It is why I recommend everyone get involved in their local elections because it all starts there, Letitia.
You are both right. He wants to be loved, not by the people, but by the fat cats. The people he can bend to his will, the fat cats not so much.
He’ll get away with it too, because the Congress is afraid of him, or they love him or both. What we know is the Congress doesn’t love the American people, only the corporations.
You bring up an excellent point, Caroline. I don’t believe they fear him – unless of course it is related to Russia and they were part of it. And, I remain convinced despite not having one shred of evidence that there are a significant number of GOP Congressional Representatives or Senators who he has dirt on, or, should I say Russia has dirt on.
Think about it: The REPUBLICAN Party is just fine with Russia interfering in our election. And his supporters simply believe it is all a hoax because THAT is what he tells them to believe and they willingly oblige.

Precisely. As I said, the theft of American wealth has already begun, and he uses every trick in the book to divert. Worse in my opinion? The Republican Party who simply allow him to go on with this charade while they pass their most radical agenda in years. It is in all essence, their wet dream which has come to pass. All they had ever hoped for, all they have wanted to do, which is in a nutshell, to dismantle the entire social contract of American and the Roosevelt’s New Deal. But this time, it WILL backfire on their rear-ends.
