Comey Quits GOP Saying “These People Don’t Represent Anything I Believe In”

Former FBI Director James Comey was once a proud Republican, but that pride is gone as his allegiance to the Republican party.

Comey made the decision after numerous tangles with the White House and the Republican National Committee’s launch of a site called “Lyin’ Comey,” after Trump’s malicious and unwarranted attacks, according to an interview on the ABC News podcast “Start Here.”

Comey said, explaining his abandonment:

“The Republican party has left me, and many others.  I just think they’ve lost their way and I can’t be associated with it.”

Despite the resurgence of the tea party, Comey said that the evolution of the GOP has “probably been over the Trump presidency” and his followers.

“These people don’t represent anything I believe in,” he said of the GOP.

Comey is disappointed that the Republican Party has turned into a Trump party.  He is right.  They are a reckless clan of irrational loyalists who don’t understand the difference between serving the American people and serving a maniacal madman. Comey explained:

“I see the Republican Party, as near as I can tell, reflects now entirely Donald Trump’s values,”

“It doesn’t reflect values at all. It’s transactional, it’s ego-driven, it’s in service to his ego. And it’s, I think, consoling itself that we’re going to achieve important policy goals — a tax cut or something.”

The Republican Party is expected to lose seats in the upcoming midterm elections and James Comey represents one less Republican vote.

Not really Les, not for me personally but I do understand the reasons other people are praising him for it, I just do not agree with them.

Frankly I’m surprised it took a man as intelligent as Comey as long as it did to abandon the GOP. Once a loyal republican myself I abandoned the party 12 years ago. Looking back I’m almost ashamed to admit I held on as long as I did.

The GOP under trump has no moral or ethical integrity whatsoever. It is unlikely the party can ever regain the respect it once had. long ago.
