Trump Seeks Open War In Syria As Conservatives Ask If You Are With Us Or Against Us

Read Time:5 Minute, 9 Second

by Dr. Mark Bear

Mr. Trump issued an order for the United States to strike Syria on Friday night, along with France and the United Kingdom, in response to the Syrian leader releasing chemicals on his own people.  Remember: This is the guy who claimed during his campaign how he wouldn’t be telling anyone about what actions he planned to take militarily.

Also, tonight, McClatchy reported that the Special Counsel has evidence that Michael Cohen, Trump’s personal friend, and attorney,  DID in fact, visit Prague during the presidential campaign. The administration has claimed incessantly that there is nothing to the charge of that dossier, and tonight despite all of his attempts to throw every obstacle towards those investigating the Russian meddling into our election, he is failing miserably.

You should also know, that while it IS unspeakable that the Syrian President would, in fact, use chemical weapons against his own people, he has repeatedly done so even beyond our military air raid which bombed an empty airfield last year. He has done this repeatedly and there has not been ANY response to these attacks by this administration, that is until tonight.

Why tonight? Why does Mr. Trump feel so compelled to act today, this when the President of Syria has continued using gas, chemical, and nerve agents against his own people for at least fifty times since the last confrontation last April? I will allow you, the reader to draw the conclusion to that question.

Even Niki Haley, the United States Ambassador admits this fact in front of the United Nations when she admitted that these attacks number in the fifties.

You should also be aware that it has been reported by sources close to the White House that Mr. Trump wants far wider and broader attacks on Syria than even his military advisors agree to. Sources close to the situation and White House describe Mr. Trump in a fit of rage over the Russian investigation; most certainly NOT over the gas and chemical attacks by the Syrian President.

You should also be aware that right now, as we speak, hundreds if not thousands of lives of our fellow countrymen will be in the line of fire. We need to keep them in our thoughts.

You should also know that more than likely this man is going to take this action as a way of diverting attention away from the ever-increasing scrutiny he is coming under with this Russian investigation.

You should also remember that this is a man who argued, despite the multiple gas attacks taking place in Syria over this past year, that “We need to get out of Syria within 48 hours.” These words were spoken by Mr. Trump a mere week ago.

You should also be aware that this is the same man who once again, pledged to this country during the campaign, to never disclose his military intentions only to provide wide and ample warning earlier this week to Russia, telling them earlier in the week to “get ready,” allowing that nation to move its assets outside of the current strike zone.

You should also be aware that this same man who seems so darned concerned about the crisis in Syria denies the very refugees in that country, entry into ours.

But tonight? He has issued an OPEN commitment to war in that region. No matter what the Defense Secretary states, this man, currently under this much scrutiny and pressure issued an open commitment to that region, WITHOUT allowing Congress to decide the matter, an act he not openly criticized the former President by Tweet for doing, but excoriated him in the public, calling the actions taken by the previous President as “WRONG!”

And you should also prepare yourselves for the likely prospect of hearing yet again, from conservatives across this land, these words:

“You are either with us or against us,” if you speak out against this action taken. At a minimum, the perception remains across this globe, that our reaction to Syria is premised in part or whole on the current occupant’s deep domestic chaos, a decision that will be assessed through that frame and none other.

We’ve been through this show before folks. Inevitably the conservatives cry foul whenever we speak out against such action, acting as though we are unpatriotic. Bull! We are fully patriotic.

We want the senseless killing of people across this globe to cease, but we also want the truth about what took place during the 2016 presidential election. Those two desires are NOT mutually exclusive, as I suspect conservatives will begin portraying in the days ahead.

So, to those conservatives: May I tell you that you are either with the US or against the US? Please know: I do not mean to divide us as a nation, but am merely preparing the liberal-leaning people in this country for the inevitable attacks which will be lobbed our way should we remotely critique Mr. Trump’s action taken tonight. We are Americans FIRST and FOREMOST!

Lobbing missiles at another nation does not a patriot make. Ignoring the mountain of evidence which continues to build against Mr. Trump all under the moniker of being “moral and patriotic,” does not a “good American” make.

Liberals in this land listened to the incessant and fallacious allegations lobbed at the former President during his eight-year term, with next to little to no merit to those allegations, all due to what? His having a unique name? The color of his skin? His vision that our nation is unique because of the diversity we as Americans present? All because he believed in equality for each and every citizen across the land? All because he reminded each of us, uncomfortably I might add, that when our military responds to crises, they do so not as Democrats or Republicans; but Americans?

You will either seek the full truth allowing the Special Counsel to do his job, and refrain from portraying those of us who want the truth as unpatriotic, or you are against us. PERIOD!

I remember all too well the republican narrative during the W years when we were in Iraq and then went into Afghanistan…”you’re either with us or against us”. We all remember what they did to the Dixie Chicks because they spoke out against those actions. I feel that times are different now and their side can’t quiet us any longer. Social media is good for a lot of things but by far the best use of it is to organize people to meet up to march/protest to show the other side we mean business. They can’t quiet us any longer if we’re not “with them”.

Every Friday night it’s another distraction. In the beginnjng it was distraction from the nepotism and the placement of “spies” in every committee and conference. Then it was the distraction of the not-a-Muslim-ban to hide the ordered entrapment of hundreds of people by using immigration enrolments as an address guide for ICE to gather spanish speaking DACA who had reached tge age of 18. And the housing of those detainees in leased for-profit prison cells and the instant but unexpected overnight jump in the value of the stock of those only two prison corporations. We hardly notice the stock market manipulation anymore as we are distracted by so many other things and we are subjected to this 4-year long reelection campaign by a man who wants access to PAC funds during the years he will hold the office he is running for the nomination to run for in 2020. Meanwhile, “our” lawmakers seem to think 50%+1 is a majority vote even though the budget reconciliation bills were not reconciled and the bill was not in the congressional register until after the vote. But me, I am distracted from all the wrongdoing because there is a threat to lower my social security checks. You gotta watch governance all the time, especially on the weekends when you get to find out what you are being distracted from now!

Another Friday night deflection that we have to endure by the hands of what he calls James Komey. The sleezy slime ball does everything so he can showboat. He doesn’t care about those poor people in Syria. If he did they would have allowed more than 11 refugees to take refuge here in America. Since the last show there has been bombings and chlorine gases and he did nothing. Both times he gave away the timeline and the game plan so we bombed empty buildings!!! My question is how much longer do we have to put up with this loser?

Won’t ANYONE take advantage of the 25th amendment? It’s obvious that it needs to be invoked quickly!!!

Hello Susan,

I think in any other administration, where the people themselves were not corrupt as well, the answer would be “yes.” However, lets not forget: many of his own administration are tied up in this, or other legal issues. Pompeo, for example, we find out did not disclose that he did business with a Chinese company.

Just who on the Cabinet does he have to stand up to him? Pruitt? Minichun? I sadly do not see enough people who are not tainted in one way or the other to do so.

You are correct however, that something has to give and quickly. I have personally advocated that Mueller just go forward and bring obstruction charges forth NOW, before that investigation goes away. Doing so, and I am no legal scholar, making clear that perhaps Michael Scott can address this due to his background, would perhaps make it a bit more difficult for him to issue a pardon to anyone?

Michael Scott: can you advise on this?

This is a great summary of the recent action of our “unelected” president to show how powerful he is. I use the term unelected since he only became president through the hacking and meddling by the Russians. And he knows that his time left in office is limited to the time remaining in the investigation of the Russians involvement by Mr. Mueller. He has made a laughing stock our of our country while trying to further his case to become “dictator” of the USA. All we can do is keep praying and keep protesting and vote whenever the election in your state is scheduled.

Hello Glenda,

I think you articulate the best strategy for those of us who acknowledge the obvious: the President of this nation must be guilty of something. Otherwise, why all the reactions we witness from him? Why the lashing out? I originally tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, that is, that perhaps it was that he felt as though a liberal establishment was trying to make his presidency null and void, but then we are all left with his reactions. The persistent throwing of the kitchen sink towards anyone affiliated with the investigation. We do need to keep protesting in our own unique way.

This is precisely why I advise people who are wanting to withdraw from the public square to not do so. Thanks for that word.

Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing, so let’s hope the generals do, and that won’t let him plunge the world into WWIII. After all, they have families too.

You know Michael, we often neglect to remember that point, don’t we? He always talks a big talk, and then when it comes time to do whatever it is he promised in the campaign, he tells the entire nation that it is much more complex (not even using that word) than he had originally thought. Which makes the entire matter worse to me.

He is playing with fire here. Literally in my opinion.

A man who has this much of a cloud over him should not be allowed to engage our nation in this kind of action.
