An Englishman Scolds Anti-Trump Americans

Read Time:2 Minute, 23 Second

by Neil Bamforth

You know what America? Stop whinging. You’re giving the world earache. Donald Trump IS your President. It isn’t anyone else’s fault. Your version of democracy landed you with him so just buckle up, learn the British stiff upper lip method and get on with it!

It does make you wonder you know.

Britain’s political left is saying they’ll protest when Trump visits Britain.

I get that but, why weren’t they protesting when the Saudi guy came over?

Why weren’t they protesting when the Chinese guy came over?

What about over in America?

I’m no fan of Trump myself – he’s a bit too ‘in your face’ for my taste – but, he is America’s President.

He is your President – and no, don’t even bother saying it – he is your President even if you hate him.

Let’s face it, it’s your political system that allowed him to become President.

All the world hears from Democrats is “He’s a pig.” “The Russians did it.” “He’s not MY President.” – er, yes, he is actually.

Look. The rest of the world does ‘get it’ ok?

You are extremely pissed off that you have a narcissistic man-child as President but get over it already.

You’ve survived Nixon. You’ve survived Reagan. You’ve survived the Kennedy clan – and, let’s face it, some of them were a bit dodgy. Chappaquiddick springs eternally to mind.

Blow job Bill Clinton? Remember him?

So. Yes. You are particularly pissed off that you’ve got Trump as your President.

I would be if he was mine.

Read: Trump: A Sad Old Fat Guy Is Not the Country

Remember ‘the boy who cried wolf’? That’s what some of America is starting to sound like in other parts of the world.

Trump is clearly a narcissistic, arrogant, occasionally idiotic and, quite possibly, dangerous man-child President but, he’s the guy YOUR electoral system got elected.

Stop whinging about it and start organising to ensure the next President of the USA is a democrat.

Enough whinging already.

Get over it.

You see, there are people all over the world reading MMA. I’m certain that, by now, like me, they ‘get it’.

I wonder whether, like me, they are becoming impatient to hear any positives.

Not about Trump, obviously, but about anything.

Have the Democrats elected someone who can challenge Trump yet? If so I haven’t noticed.

I know it’s ‘different’ over there but when our Conservatives were in trouble in the 70’s they got Thatcher at the helm well before any election. This allowed her to get herself into the voter consciousness early and ‘hey presto!’

Labour did the same with Blair.

Why haven’t you got a leader already in place who can rally the troops and start getting into your public’s imagination?

What, precisely, is the opposition to Trump doing – apart from moaning a lot?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I have been watching American politics in America for some 50 + years now and while I understand the basics of it I don’t think that more than a precious few in this country truly understand fully understand it. Donald Trump proved that. I do understand that there are and awful lot of people in this country who actually are not smart enough to be voting because anything more than one liners in more than they can grasp. Also, in my neck of the woods most of the people vote on the basis of what they believe and unseen, invisible person hiding in the sky is believed to alluded to 6,000 years ago. In the state of Alabama it is a contest to see who can out Jesus the other, So, yes, I have wasted a half century observing these idiots.

We must have built up some kind of immunity to them Bill….or we’d have gone nuts.

In my case possibly more nuts? 😜

As an American independent anything except Republican or Democrat I say… SPOT ON Neil. Republicans (and the country they lead) are completely lost in the woods and Democrats can’t find or agree on a path back to sanity.

America is real and America is fun, but sometimes it sure as he’ll ain’t real fun!

Sounds good…if it could happen?

I expect our Neil’s idea of the world is pretty much confined to Greater London and the occasional trip up north.

Not really Ron.

The USA have a loony President because your political system allowed it to happen.

Your Democrats appear to be doing nothing? Well, very little.

If that’s the way your system works you probably get what you deserve….even if you don’t deserve it…

Not fair Ron, Mr Bamforth has a broad view of life, he lives in a London suburb where he is one of a handful of English speakers, they talk about Brexit a lot, I mean a lot. They make fun of Americans, except Trump, he’s not a bad guy, and play count the cats as the feline critters roam all over the neighborhood.

137 million people voted in the 2016 general election. 76 million voters didn’t vote for Trump. 61 million did. He only campaigned in 16 states. He went to Florida 133 times. The system was played like never before.

Then maybe the Dems need to campaign to change a broken system?

It’s quite clear you have zero understanding of US politics. None. More prisons? What does that even mean ?

Jeez. Chill out!!

The old ways? What are you talking about? You can’t land on a candidate until you have an election to select the one that gets the most votes. Then it’s in to the general election. Don’t blame Dems for Trump.

I’m not…and clearly I’m not.

What I am asking is where are they?

Why aren’t they electing a strong leader now to take him on?

“Oh that doesn’t happen yet in the USA”…really? Why? Traditionally?

Screw tradition.

The Dems need to move. Now.

Reply to  Neil Bamforth

Tradition? You are one silly bugger. It’s the law. There are certain laws, and common sense, governing campaigns.

Common sense? Mmmmm….

He may in name be our president yes, but what he does affects the whole world Neil. There are no positives when a guy like this is in charge and going around systematically dismantling things that have been in place for decades, NONE.

So where are the Democrats then? Why aren’t the loudly challenging him from the roof tops?

If he’s so bad – and I believe he is – where the he’ll are the Democrats???

They are out there but the news here is more in line with republicans and their needs because reasons. No seriously, media is so biased here towards how Trump’s crowd are feeling dems cannot get a message out. Squeaky wheel and all that.

Neil, you are getting your US news in soundbites. There are dozens, if not hundreds of democratic politicians doing just that, but it’s not the time for the fucking election. LOL. I can’t give you a lesson in American politics because life is too short, but in a country of 350 million people, it’s a bit different than it is in the Uk. Every day, sometimes two, three times a day, we hear from democratic politicians challenging Trump, but it’s too early, and not smart, for one of them to announce their intention to run for president. It gives the opponent time to prepare, work for more donations, and to dig dirt on the opponent, who may or may not win the primary which consists of all the people who had the money to get that far. Then there’s an election and the people pick one. Then there’s the BIG election in November 2020. That’s how that works so stop being so thick.

We did it, it’s our fault. We did it and we’re stupid, obsessive, narrow minded, self righteous and uncompromising. Gullible too and too lazy to check our convictions. Hillary is this, Hillary is that and so we find ourselves with the epitome of all the things we feared she was.

Impeach the public.

😂😂😂😂 boy would you need more prisons!….over here too 😂😂😂

Still reckon the Dems should select a strong candidate now.

Throw a curve ball. Mix it up. Change things.

Otherwise you might end up with Trump version 2 next time.

Practically all Americans love moaning, trouble is only half of them like voting.

Happens here too sadly.

Still, surely it isn’t that hard to find a Democrat leader to take him on??

Reply to  Neil Bamforth

There are lots of democratic prospects, but the election is two years away so no one candidate has emerged above the pack and won’t until well after primaries sometime in early 2020. It works differently here.

Ah! I see.

I reckon the Dems should shake it up. Get a strong candidate in place now.

Get them campaigning well early. Get them in the voting publics mind.

Don’t follow the old ways…they gave you Trump.

Shake it up a bit I say!

Extremely pissed off.

That’s my point. Why aren’t the Democrats already rallying around a challenger?

We would. I don’t get it.
