Has Trump Been Trumped By A Guy Named Kim?

Read Time:3 Minute, 40 Second

by Neil Bamforth

So, having spent a few days digesting the seemingly extraordinary events recently of President Trump meeting Kim Jong-un, I have decided to keep my musical nicknames for them both. It stops me from weeping if nothing else.

Haircut 100 were a boy band in Blighty back in the 80’s. Good name for Trump given his bizarre hair. Fatboy Slim had a few hits in the 90’s so Fat Boy Kim it is then. Besides, Haircut 100 meets Fat Boy Kim doesn’t sound quite so alarming as the reality.

What, exactly, is the reality?

According to Haircut 100, North Korea is no longer a potential nuclear threat. That is a good thing. However, it isn’t the first time North Korea has agreed to stop trying to become a nuclear power and reneged on the deal.

Fat Boy Kim is supposedly delighted that Haircut 100 has agreed to stop war games with South Korea. I’m uncertain why he would be delighted. Stopping war games doesn’t mean that America couldn’t do the same damage to North Korea if the need arose. War games with South Korea are, frankly, neither here nor there.

The entire outcome of the meeting seems a bit vague to me.

The one thing that I did find interesting though was the body language at times. Only my opinion of course but, at one point when they were both sat at a table and Haircut 100 was speaking, Fat Boy Kim started thumbing through some paperwork – presumably the agreement – with a startlingly bored expression on his face.

On several other occasions, Fat Boy Kim looked slightly alarmed when he looked directly at Haircut 100.

You have to admit, it’s quite something to achieve when your mere presence in the same room makes a psychotic mass-murdering megalomaniac dictator actually look alarmed.

Mind you, if you take the ‘mass murdering’ bit away, perhaps Fat Boy Kim recognized a kindred spirit.

Trump – my fingers are fed up of typing Haircut 100 now – actually congratulated Kim on his people adoring him. How bizarre is that? I read somewhere that Trump actually called Kim his ‘friend’. Did he? I must have missed that bit.

So. Trump meets Kim, publicly verbally admires him and gives a mass murdering psychotic dictator a world stage on which to swagger – well, more of a wobble really – and grin at an expectant world.

Somewhere in the background, or so I believe, human rights were briefly mentioned. I have no idea whether it was Trump mentioning them regarding North Korea or Kim mentioning them regarding the USA.

Quite what Trump thinks he can do to improve human rights in North Korea is beyond me. Introduce McDonald’s perhaps? Make all the North Koreans fat like their leader in the hope he’ll stop killing them if they all look like him?

Kim once removed someone – I think it was a relative but I’m certain it was an army officer – via firing squad. Now most peoples understanding of a firing squad is that the victim is tied to a post, possibly blindfolded, and then several men with guns take aim and fire.

Kim’s version was to have this relative/army officer dispatched with a rocket launcher. Not surprisingly, the poor chap was completely obliterated.

Mind you, given all the sanctions, perhaps they couldn’t afford a funeral so obliterating the body saved on unnecessary costs.

As it stands, Kim came out of this whole thing rather well. He’s got an invitation to The White House, he has an American president as a new friend, his propaganda machine doesn’t have to lie very much about it all and all Trump got was an assurance, not dissimilar to previous assurances, that North Korea will not go nuclear.

Has Kim out trumped Trump?

A final point.

What if – and it’s a huge enormous ‘IF’ – Trump actually pulled it off? What if Kim really did denuclearize? What if North Korea really did rejoin the occasional sanity of the rest of the world? What if all this meeting stuff actually did work?

It’s unlikely I grant you but, just for a second, suspend your natural inclination to scoff and say it’s going to go wrong.

What if Trump actually succeeded?

Whither Nobel Peace Prize then?

Let’s face it. We live in strange times in so many ways.

How otherwise intelligent folks turn a blind eye to support tRump pains me as well. But, as has been said, that is out of our control.

Yes, he is, but as in everything he does, he’s an amateur, a bluffer and a duffer and an ignorant man. What pains me most are all the people trying to help him succeed, riding on his coat tails like a witch on a broomstick.

You are quite correct Bill, tRump is an autocratic “leader”, and, like most (if not all) autocratic leaders he is a control freak. Regardless the fluff he might use to try to get folks to believe otherwise.

OK, here comes Bill, late to the party as usual. There are some rumors, or in Trump speak, some people are saying, that the meeting itself was all show and no go. There were some vague terms, which we learned afterwards, that had already been agreed on before they ever got together. For example, there were reports in China the day before the meeting that the joint training exercises would be ending. I really know longer find it strange that Trump speaks so highly of autocratic leaders. If you listen closely to him that is what he is trying to do here.

The entire outcome of the meeting seems a bit vague to me. dolt45 got his ass handed to him and smiled like a moron while it was being handed to him.

Not just you Neil, it’s vague to everyone because that’s is how it was intended to be for propaganda purposes.

Now that’s a thought I’ve had too! Since when did a President of the USA use propaganda to this extent? Even the bad ones like Nixon didn’t use it like a dictator!

I’m sure the world will discover – and maybe the US too, but one never knows whether we are a real country or a branch of Westworld. I only hope that discovering isn’t the result of Pearl Harbor Day II

Similar thoughts have passed through what passes for my mind too.

Herr Trump has indeed been “trumped” by Kim, and it’s just a matter of time before the world realizes it. That said it won’t matter to the Grifter-in-chief’s mad supporters.
