Mr. Opposite: A Donald Trump Cartoon Character

Read Time:2 Minute, 4 Second

by Glenn R. Geist

If Mr. Trump were a cartoon character (as though he weren’t) I could see him as an R. Crumb sort called Mr. Opposite, a character who’s every statement means the opposite.

“No puppet!” means he’s exactly that and so does “No Collusion.” So I suspect “I don’t see why Russia would do that” means that not only does he understand full well, but he may have been involved in advance.

I have no idea how this horrifying event that’s being described as another date that will live in infamy was portrayed on Fox, but they may be running out of whitewash and thought repellent. My hope is that it’s only a matter of a short time before some Republicans begin to see him as a greater liability than it is to be seen as “anti-Trump” and turn on him.

One of the ways one proves a hypothesis is by testing it by multiple methods and another test, outside the Mueller investigation, has been dragged in from the cold. At last, we have a real Russian agent – or should I say another one – in handcuffs.

I would point out to anyone who can still keep dismissing the growing mass of evidence of Russian influence conspiracies, we have the arrest of yet another secret Russian agent affiliated for some time with the NRA for the apparent purpose of funneling Russian money into the Trump campaign and to use that powerful organization to influence elections and American politics in the name of the second amendment.

There’s evidence that she and her handlers were confident as early as 2015 that the next President would be a Republican!  Mariia Butina and her Russian Banker handler have been plotting a Russia / GOP / NRA alliance for three years and allegedly tried to get Putin into the National Prayer Breakfast in 2016 and 2017.

The idea was to make idiots think Putin favored second amendment style gun rights for Russia and so the GRU and the NRA are really soul mates. Ironically, that may be the case. It may also be a felony or even treason, but we’ll let the courts argue that.

Maxwell Smart, if you’re old enough to remember, might have said “and if you don’t believe that” into his shoe-phone, but I suspect you don’t believe there is no assault on America going on and do suspect The Trump machine along with Mr. Opposite himself are up to their necks in it.

A more optimistic man than I am might dare to dream that the NRA will be exposed for what it is and that at least vampires and parasites like Wayne LaPierre will go to jail, but optimism died in 2016.

I fear pressing involvement with the NRA may backfire. While I personally would love to see LapIerre and company festooned in orange jumpsuits with “Bureau of Corrections” stenciled on the back, I’m afraid that may be like sticking the stick in the hornets nest. As we know, there are no greater fanatics than NRA members. And we also know that they carry a lot of political weight.

Thought you might have something to say about this circle jerk Herr Geist. As Bobbie said it’s no surprise there’s an NRA connection to this craziness.

Folks, I hate to be a contrarian but there have been too many congressmen who have dug themselves too deep into Comrade Trump’s bunker and there is not enough time to dig themselves out. My guess is they will stay with him and hope that his supporters will still not believe the deep state or the fake news. Yes, I actually believe that his supporters are that stupid. Trump has done just about everything but demand that Americans learn the Russian National Anthem and his supporters, including those in the House of Representative are still salivating behind him. They have actually started drawing up the Articles of Impeachment for Rosenstein.

That stupid, beyond a doubt. Much has changed since Nixon tried to slither out of obstruction and conspiracy charges. But I think there’s a point where any difference between stupidity and insanity is probably moot. Reason and a requirement for evidence have never persuaded anyone to abandon the craziest of beliefs and I don’t think this is different. We have to do anything possible to get rid of this traitor, his handlers and enablers because we can’t really depend on appealing to the better natures of people who have no better natures.

Why am I not surprised that there an NRA/Russia connection. An easy way to funnel funds to the GOP. Might need another special prosecutor soon.

Pretty soon there will be a manufactured distraction to distract us from the treasonous behavior of Comrade Trump. In the 60s Agent Orange was a rolling ball of fire that destroyed anything in it’s path, in 2018 not much has changed. As is usual for bullies, they cower and become subservient when in the company of a bigger bully. Putin is biggest bully on the world stage right now, and like Hitler helped Mussolini when his world was falling apart, Putin could reach out to him, maybe offer him asylum.

What an awful mess we are in.

That’s my biggest fear actually. I don’t put anything at all beyond his obscene reach – a nuclear event so he can claim we should have let him make peace with Putin?

Long been a fan of R. Crumb, and, when I was setting this up Glenn, I found a lot of Crumb illustrations of Donald Trump, all appropriate, as is your apt descriptor. Trump the Contrarian; Mr. Opposite. If it’s the right thing he’ll do the wrong thing. If it’s the wrong thing he’ll still do the wrong thing, however, and often worse.
