Don’t ‘Monkey’ It Up—Say No To Injustice, and VOTE

The Monkey King Fights Evil (Pic From Netflix Canada)

by Glenn R. Geist

In the Hindu religion,  the God Hanuman is associated with a monkey, In Chinese folklore, the Monkey King is a beloved character and a merry trickster. It’s different here and I’ve learned that for too many people to ignore, it’s a racist epithet. That became too apparent with the truly disgusting pictures of Barack Obama and his family that brought the slur literally to light as effigies were set publicly on fire and crosses were burned.

Ron DeSantis was elected as the Florida Republican party’s candidate for governor yesterday and less than 12 hours later he was warning Florida voters not to monkey it up by voting for the Democratic candidate. I’m 73 years old. I don’t hear dog whistles and I don’t speak ‘cliche’ either – but I heard this one.

DeSantis has been endorsed by Donald Trump whose reputation seems to be growing in this state despite his increasingly visible failures, felonies and growing madness – or perhaps because of it. He’s going to do everything he can to use that endorsement by appealing to every low-life Trump critter this state harbors.

The Democratic candidate is a black man.  The 39-year-old Andrew Gillum is a rising star. He was outspent hugely by his opponents and yet he beat the favorite. He has been the Mayor of Tallahassee Florida, the State Capitol, since 2014 and under his administration, that city has reduced its crime rate by 15%. But one of the first things out of his opponent’s mouth was the warning that crime would go up in Florida just as it didn’t in Tallahassee if we “monkey it up” by electing that radical Socialist.

The race is on, and yes, I mean it both ways. Hell yes! Hell is breaking loose this morning and if there is any hope, as I hope there is, it’s that every voter who is or who identifies or sympathizes with African-Americans or indeed any disadvantaged minorities – or simply injustice itself, will do the rare, unusual thing and vote. There are people who will help you register and help you get there. Just do it!

What a spirited picture, and one that fits right into the theme Mr. Geist. I saw his speech, but don’t really believe his comment was intentional, but it was in the back of his mind. I don’t think he even meant to say it’ oh no, only thought it, and that did him in, but again it’s Florida, USA who knows?

Oh no Shirley, he meant it all, especially when he added the nicety of Gillum being articulate along with the don’t monkey it up thing. Their dog whistle is no more, it’s now a bullhorn.

You never know. I don’t credit this guy with much intelligence to go with his obscene Trump worship. He only matters because all he offers, all he talks about is Trump. If he fails in Florida, Crooked Trump and his party will fail

Well, it’s not time to vote yet, but will be in November, and only the people in Florida can vote for him.
