White House Furtively Hiding Jeff Sessions From Once Best Bud Trump

White house staff hiding Sessions

Trump and his once favorite toady, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, have learned the hard way that ‘breaking up is hard to do’ and when you do it things get really bad.

Ever since the diminutive Jeff Sessions recused himself from overseeing the investigation into whether Trump’s campaign was involved with Russian interference in the 2016 election, things have been really awkward. Trump is publicly criticizing him for letting the investigation drag on, while Sessions obliquely sucks up to his boss with thinly-veiled attempts to stay on the #MAGA train.

Despite Sessions’ best effort to stay out of Trump’s giant hair, the two can’t avoid each other at Cabinet meetings — but they can try. The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that White House staffers seat Sessions strategically during meetings, hoping to keep him out of Trump’s line of sight.

The attorney general rarely speaks directly with Trump, sources told the JournalTrump sees Sessions as “the catalyst” for all the headaches the Russia investigation has created for the administration, an official said.

Perhaps officially severing his previously strong ties with Sessions, it appears Trump has a new BFF in the Justice Department: He has begun embracing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, calling their relationship “fantastic.”

Sessions might benefit from a lesson from former FBI Director James Comey, who once hid in the Oval Office curtains to avoid Trump — once the president starts angrily tweeting about you, it’s all over.

Sessions is learning that his way of playing power politics, the good old boy from the Deep South, is not the same style that the president wants and needs. The Attorney General did not realize that doing the president’s bidding in and under handed way by attacking immigrants in a manner that would try to keep the president from being directly blamed was not the way to the president’s heart. To stay on the good side of Trump one must not only do the president’s bidding but do it in and “out front, shameless manner” such as his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani is doing. One’s intentions must be clear that one is willing to risk everything for Trump knowing full well the Trump may cast you off into the trash bin without notice or reason. Sessions has this idea that there may be life after the debacle he calls being the top law enforcer in the country. He is wrong, of course, because people are seeing sessions standing alone as the racist xenophobic weasel for what he is in real life. What he saw as a chance to make his mark as a great policy maker is, instead, show not just America but the entire world how small and petty he really is as a person.

You are exactly right Bill, yet Sessions still seems to be doing Trump’s bidding, or at least fulfilling his policy ideas.
