The Tale of Sweeney Todd, Saudi Style

Read Time:2 Minute, 13 Second
Sweeney Todd.

“The constellation of things that are being talked about”

That, according to Fox news propagandist Harris Faulkner, makes it almost true. She means the idea that Khashoggi is “tied to the Muslim Brotherhood” is on the list of mandatory Fox fables for today. They’re talking about it, so we must give the idea some credit. It’s the “people are saying” gambit they rely on constantly.

We are of course, in a post evidential era where truth isn’t true. But even were that fake story true and “tied to” actually meant something more than verbal graffiti, we’re talking about kidnapping murdering and dismembering a reporter for being mildly critical of an evil empire – and not necessarily doing it in that order.  But don’t worry. He isn’t really one of us. He wasn’t really such a nice guy.

Is no one insulted by the constant presumption of idiocy on our part?   Do we obediently believe that an obese middle-aged man deliberately got in a physical altercation with a squad of over a dozen trained hit-men – even before the knives, pruning shears and bone saws came out? Sorry, I’ll believe that Nigerian prince before I’ll credit that pathetic lie. But it’s an obvious and persistent pattern.

Trump loves the Republican who assaults a critic as much as he loves a bad judge who supports immunity for presidents. It’s thuggery and Trump is a would-be thug in the mold of Juan Peron, Augusto Pinochet and other Third World dictators for and by whom people are “disappeared” or dropped from airplanes and never seen again. They’re bad guys after all—people are saying.

But it doesn’t take Murdoch’s Ministry of Sewage long to smear anyone who in any way—including being cut to pieces—casts doubt on a Trump business partner. It’s automatic. It’s what they do—perhaps it’s all they do. And of course, wrapped in a blanket like those cocktail weenies we gobble without much thought, is the truth that the Saudis are Trump’s very lucrative business partners and he’s openly bragged about it as the slack-jawed and shoeless Foxwatchers nod in agreement while he simultaneously denies it.

So sure, he wasn’t such a good guy. He had a foreign name and probably was a Trump critic and we know because Trump is embarrassed which requires that we apologize for actions the Beast of Belsen would have been proud of. The first step in making America great is to eliminate all enemies and foreigners after all.

Has Trump World ever been anything but an amusement park? But I’m amused too when he praises the body slammers and acts like he himself is one of his thugs. The man, like many bullies is all mouth. Yes, he certainly has been protected from consequences in every part of his life so far.

Appropriate title. Well done.

The man is a pig, and not a noble one by any means. Anyone who believes Khashoggi was killed in a fist fight is an idiot, like Trump.

The one thing that Trump has never had to experience, the real world of political discourse. Being that Trump has always been rich and to some degree powerful, he has been at a distance from the results of critical politics. He has been able to say anything he wants and get away with because he has body guards and does not mingle even with his on supporters. The real world of activism can get you seriously injured and yes, even killed. For all of his tough talk I would love to see The Donald have to step into the arena of real life sans protections other than just the law.
