Trump Orders Troops to the Border

On Thursday, Trump once again declared the situation at the US-Mexico border a “national emergency” and promised to get the military involved. Now it appears the Pentagon is preparing to do just that.

Defense chief James Mattis is expected to sign an order authorizing at least 800 troops to head to the border, reports the AP. It wasn’t immediately clear whether they’d be active-duty troops or members of the National Guard, or what their specific duties would be, reports CNN.

The best guess, however, is that the troops would help shore up fencing and other barriers along parts of the border deemed vulnerable, rather than directly engaging with migrants attempting to cross illegally&

The development comes as thousands of migrants from Central America continue to move north toward the US. In his tweet, Trump again blamed Democrats for weak immigration laws and quoted a guest on Fox & Friends.

“Brandon Judd of the National Border Patrol Council is right when he says … that the Democrat inspired laws make it tough for us to stop people at the Border.”

Judd represents about 16,000 Border Patrol agents in their union, notes NBC News.

It’s possible that two more “caravans” might soon be following.

Uh huh, and the National Guard was just there to keep the peace at Kent State.

Everything that stands in the way of the dictatorship is “Democrat inspired” the way it was Jewish inspired in the 1930s and the fact that they even blame bombs sent to Democrats on Democrats shows they aren’t preaching to a sane or intelligent audience. In fact since none of those bombs went off I suspect it’s another bit of GOP/SVR theater.

A few thousand asylum seekers isn’t a national emergency. Unarmed penniless women and children aren’t a national emergency and are no more danger than the large numbers of Cuban refugees or Vietnamese refugees we’ve accepted who are active participants in our economy to say the least and many are business owners, lawyers, senators and Republicans. The courts would never support this but how long will the courts not be controlled by Trump puppets? We can’t pretend this all hasn’t been worked out in advance.

But the evil cartoon character Trump needs an excuse and from day one I’ve been awaiting the emergency and his request for emergency powers – which this is since it’s illegal for him to use federal troops to enforce immigration laws or to turn away legal asylum seekers. It would be illegal for him to shut down congress and the courts too, but many suspect that’s the next step because it’s been done elsewhere by you know who.

Yes, I know, we’re always comparing presidents to Hitler but would we if they hadn’t read his books and followed his strategies so well?
