Hillary Was Right—That’s Why We Should Lock Her Up

Many is the night I sit watching Fox News propaganda while tweaking a nonexistent mustache and snickering evilly. Not that I have a right to evilly snicker but all Republicans like to think we’re in on the evil right-wing cabal.

Years ago when Hillary brought up the “vast right-wing cabal” that was attacking her, she suffered great ridicule. The truth is ridiculing her was our only defense since there really was and still is a vast right-wing cabal.

For many years it was easy to keep under wraps since there were still a few Republicans of note that weren’t totally batshit crazy. But Steve Bannon and Donald Trump pretty well purged them out of the party so using the few thoughtful Republicans as evidence there was no cabal is now out of the question.

The amazing thing about the cabal was not how vast it was and still is. Probably even vaster now since Trump made it okay for bigots and homophobes to openly support Republicans and even be embraced by many of us.

Before the Russians there were a few Right wing loons that made up hundreds, if not thousands of online avatars and infested message boards on new sites, blogs and anywhere else they could post their hate and ignorance.

The funny thing is, if one can find funniness in what has become a true attack on our Democracy and especially our judiciary, is none of this cost the billionaires like the Koch Brothers or Sheldon Addison a dime. All this chicanery performed by well-meaning yet deluded fools who were convince they were part of the vast right-wing cabal and doing something good.

We have millions of supporters that have no good reason to be Republicans that rabidly support the Republican Party. We have them convinced that they’re in on the joke. And because we Republicans, despite our denial of science, understand that our base will never admit to their blind ignorance, they will remain loyal and vote for whomever we decide to run. Or lately, whomever the Russians decide to run. And our propaganda machine is so vast and convincing to them, we had them convinced Hillary Clinton was a liar despite the fact that the most truthful thing said by a politician the last twenty years was that she was a victim of a vast right-wing cabal.

The threat of being chanted “lock him/her up” at by hordes of Republicans is a scary thing to Republicans that mistakenly speak truth. It’s why they all quickly backtrack their disgusting truths and make amends. Mitt Romney is a great example of this. His op/ed criticizing President Trump’s character drew great attention.

The President quickly admonished Mitt the Flip Romney. While mean tweets from the President are scary enough, it was the threat of being chanted “lock him up” at that cowed Mitt into obediently swearing fealty to Trump’s wall scheme.

Mitt has a long history of pretending to be tough on Trump before prostrating himself before the great President. Not to single out Mitt since all the Senate Republicans are currently prostrating themselves to Trump for not voting to keep the government-funded after they voted to keep the government-funded.

But disrupting things we rely on to keep our Country operating properly, tax returns filed promptly and other things are less important than Trump’s wrath and yelling “lock her up.”

“Basket of motherfuckers” Priceless.

When Hillary called Trump supporters “a basket of deplorables”, she was right. It could be argued that it cost her the election. It may have pushed undecideds over the Trump cliff. She should have waited until her victory speech, and toned the language down a little “a basket of motherfuckers”. Deplorables probably sent them running for the dictionary.

That chant will haunt politics for decades I think.
