Is America Gone For Good?

Read Time:3 Minute, 51 Second

“MAGA” Make America Great Again! That has been the slogan for Donald Trump and his campaign when he announced his candidacy in 2015. To him, at the time it meant that immigrants from Mexico would no longer be allowed into this country. Yes, he quibbled a little and said some Mexicans were good people, but even then he did not say they would be welcomed into this country. In fact, he continued his anti-Mexican and anti-immigrant rhetoric right up until today.

Trump said a lot of things in the beginning but like most of his promises they were just the beginning of a string of lies that we the American people have become used to over the next 3 or four years. Mexico was going to pay for a wall between them and us; no more Muslims would be immigrating to America; Trump was bring back all of the industries that have left America; he was going to provide better health insurance; and, America was going to be doing so well they would get tired of being successful,

Well, it is three years later and we are firmly in the grasp of Donald Trump. He has managed to create a catastrophe at our Southern Border and we now make the Grinch look like Santa Clause and the Good Witch of the West in one swoop. He took regulations that were designed to protect the land and workers in the factories, and wiped them out. He took the prospects of having health insurance for everyone, especially for the non=insurable and flushed it down the drain, well mostly. The remains of Obama care are still swirling around in the bowl waiting to go down the sewer.

So we are almost fully in Donald Trump’s great America, or what he deems as the Great America. Of course this not yet the America that once was because we have not gotten back to the turn of the century or the time of the “robber barons” yet. But, we are getting there. Trump has introduced us to the beginning of this new America, you know, nothing that any of the leaders tell is true, only the opinions of wealthy matter and even those don’t matter if they differ from Trump’s.

Soon, America will have to decide if it wishes to continue on this journey with Donald Trump as he re-frames the American dream. It will take a take a bit of getting used to because in a way we Americans will have to prepare to redo most of what was accomplished in the early part of the 20th century. Most likely we will have to rebuild the unions and fight for worker rights again. There is even a chance we may have to fight the Civil War, the battle for civil rights, perhaps even a new fight for who gets to vote and who does not. Well, what does it matter?

Every great civilization has to fall at some point in time in order to realize how fortunate it once was. Most do not commit suicide quite as quickly as we have, but they all do, eventually. Rome, Greece, the Egyptians, Spain, even England and France. To some degree I guess we are on the precipice of our downfall. I mean, Trump has not totally destroyed this great experiment yet but he is about to do so. He has shown us and the world that laws do not matter if one cons enough of the populace. After all, all a tyrant, dictator, or a king has is the belief of others that he is all powerful and everything he, or she, says is true.

Donald Trump has done a great job of brainwashing at least a third of the population of the American people. Some saw an opportunity to ride his coat tails to wealth. Others have saw an opportunity to be powerful and exert their hate toward others. There is no big secret here. It has been carried out numerous times throughout the history of mankind. Many of our forefathers ran from this but it has been with us all along. Our history has shown our population is susceptible to mass hysteria and group dynamics. We swarmed this land and killed its people. Too many people have chosen to hate others because of their skin color or religion. Donald Trump is only the tip of the spear dividing the country. He has thrown down the gauntlet and we placed our faith in our made up system and Trump snubbed his nose at it, and he has won.

What now America???

Dave, you may be right. The only hope is that the American people will wake up and see what is going on. Unfortunately, that will not happen. There are simply too many people who closed their eyes to what the Trumpsters were, and are still doing.
Our best hope was that Mueller would find that a conspiracy had taken place during the 2016 election between the Trump Campaign and Russia was neutralized was by Mueller himself. All I can say is that if the special prosecutor’s office could not find conspiracy among the debacle that was displayed in the open by Trump and his minions then we should refine how we define conspiracy. We also need a new set of laws dealing with the presidency. If the laws in this country are going to truly mean anything at all then their should be no quibbling about whether the president can be arrested and charged for breaking the law. Trump came into power with a simple agenda; to show people how silly our legal system was and how easy it was to challenge it.

I wish I could say there is light at the end of the tunnel. Brainwashed Americans have chosen darkness, and they have shown us they don’t need a majority to do so.

Democracy died in 2000. The American soul died in 2004 when it reelected the men who lied us into a war of aggression. Trump has only zombie-fied the rotting corpse into a white nationalist corporate state.

The late, great George Carlin told us back in 2007:

You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land, they own and control the corporations, and they’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the State Houses, and the City Halls. They’ve got the judges in their back pockets. And they own all the big media companies so they control just about all the news and information you get to hear.

They’ve got you by the balls.

We’re not gone for good. We’ll recover like we have so many times before.

Jerry, I sincerely hope you are right. America has always recovered from different challenges but this is the first time since the Civil War we have actually had someone shake the very foundations of the government like this. The very principles of America have been built on the Constitution and our laws and our legal system. These last two years and the next two will likely be the most monumental challenges this country will have ever faced short of an out right revolutionary war. We proved that we could withstand the Civil War. If we get through this political dilemma, well we can probably withstand anything else that is thrown at us.
