Trump Is Not A King—Demand Accountability

This past November, in what can only be described as a convincing statement against Mr. Trump and his policies, the American people elected forty more Democratic candidates to the House of Representatives, than Republicans. Why? My bet is that if people voted like I and my wife did, they wanted to place a legislative check on this current Administration.

To clarify: During the first two years of Mr. Trump’s term, we watched in astonishment as Republican lawmakers literally refused to place ANY oversight on the current Administration, with some even being complicit by visiting the White House at midnight to receive talking points which were used to mitigate any questions that may have been posed to the administration. In other words, they have operated with absolutely zero oversight while republicans controlled the House.

Once a party controls the House – as Democrats now do – things are supposed to change. The voter who sent that representative to Washington should not have to worry about such a lack of oversight. Yet, we still do. Why?

Because according to Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, since Democrats overtook the House, their committee has sent TWELVE LETTERS requesting information on various topics in order to fulfill their constitutional responsibility. Those topics range from security clearances being given to those who did not go through the traditional vetting process, or, if they did, neglected to pass the process, to a host of other issues that are essential to look into.

Despite this, according to the Chairman, not one single piece of paper has been provided to the Committee Chairman or ANYONE on the Committee. What the White House did provide the committee, according to Mr. Cummings, was the ability to “read — but not keep — a few pages of policy documents that have nothing to do with the officials we are investigating, along with a general briefing on those policies during which they will answer no questions about specific employees.”

Now many administrations in the past have argued that they are asserting their “executive privilege” when Congress has requested documentation however as Mr. Cummings makes clear: “The George W. Bush White House gave more than 20,000 pages relating to Hurricane Katrina; numerous documents and witnesses relating to the leak of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame’s identity; and nearly 1,500 pages of emails between senior White House officials about the death of Pat Tillman.” Similarly, the Obama White House – according to Mr. Cummings had cooperated by fulfilling Congressional requests.

So what is REALLY going on here?

I want to be perfectly clear with each and every reader: The current White House is depriving YOU and YOUR VOTE for a Democratic Congressional Representative to fulfill the mandate YOU HAD FOR HIM OR HER; which, was OVERSIGHT OF MR. TRUMP’S ADMINISTRATION. .

Republicans did this to Democrats during the Obama years by meeting at a Steak House just over one mile away from President Obama dancing with then First Lady, Michelle Obama developing one of the most sophisticated obstruction political schemes in modern-day history.

And do you want to know how I personally responded to THAT OBSTRUCTION? I WENT AND VOTED FOR the former President in 2012. What you each NEED to understand is that a Republican administration believes they are not accountable to ANYONE, including Congress, calling the Congressional effort “Presidential harassment.” Yet, this is far from harassment. If Mr. Trump thinks HE is being harassed, perhaps he should try governing in an environment as the former President did.

My point? Mr. Trump is trying to run the clock out minimally until after the election, on any request Congress is making, and also will try to run the clock out on the release of the Mueller report. Why? Because there IS something in that report that casts this man in a negative light, and many others.

How can I make such an assertion? Did I read the report? No! But a man who screams and rants on Twitter as much as Mr. Trump has for the past two years calling the Russia investigation a “hoax,” would WANT the report out in the public to PROVE HE WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG! Yet, that is not what we are witnessing.

What to do? Contact your local Congressional representative DEMANDING accountability take place.

Mr. Trump IS NOT a King! Nobody in this nation is above the law. It’s time Mr. Trump realize this truth and republicans to quit messing around with our democracy and Democrats’ voting outcomes.

Remember folks: The best way to confront this sort of thing is to at least share the pieces I write. When you do so, the piece is placed within the News Feed that we and every other Republican or conservative reads. We need to make perfectly clear that we are not messing around here.
