Bye bye love
Bye bye sweet caress
Hello emptiness
I feel like I could die
Bye bye my love goodbye

-The Everly Brothers-

He looked me right in the eyes and said “you gotta admit he’s done just about everything he’s promised to do.”

The South Florida Atlantic sky is black this morning. The sound of the rain is a roar that’s unique to tropical climates and the expressions on the faces of visitors or newcomers is always worthy of a smile. “What’s happening? Is this normal?” You have to be here to understand. But of course this is the dry season – the brush fire season, yet it seems that during the last few years these Summer sort of rains are more common than they were when I was new to Florida. It’s getting wetter and it’s getting darker despite the assurance of my license plates that this is the Sunshine State.

She was my baby
’till he stepped in
Goodbye to romance
That might’ve been

Everything is changing. There’s darkness at noon. There’s rain and storms and confusion and I feel like I’m on my old boat in a storm without anything to hold on to or to steer by. I feel like I’m driving blind in a blinding rain where I can’t see the road or the traffic and the tires are hydroplaning and I’m afraid to touch the brakes. I would panic but I don’t know what’s real and what’s a dream.

But it’s all sunshine when what you see and hear and believe and think you know have no connection, no relation to reality. And what is reality but a subscription, like cable TV in a world without windows where we choose what channels to tune in to and which to ignore. This is America. This is what’s left. You know I used to love her, but it’s all over now.

Not really relevant but just thought I’d mention in most of the UK and definitely where I live it’s like summer 25.5 degrees! Last week we had the heating on does make you wonder. London is being disrupted by the ‘Extinction rebellion’ thousands of people from all over having a peaceful demonstration for a week much to the annoyance of some 🤣🤣

I remember feeling that way 60 years ago when it seemed the momentum for change would carry us through. I don’t think you can conquer evil because it’s our nature. I don’t think you can conquer stupidity or willful denial because we simply are not rational creatures. I think we are born to seek out tyranny and support it. I think we are doomed always to return to our vicious animal nature. I think we are doomed.

NO, these assboils don’t get to spoil things for the rest of us. I’ll fight for for you guys that can’t or don’t want to right now. I’m not letting these fuckers spoil things.

You guys remember the guy they called the Unabomber. I am no longer quite as sure as I used to be that he was a total nut case. Misguided perhaps, and certainly underfunded, but he was only trying to shake some sense into the status quo. I wonder if they might consider letting him out for an extended weekend and point him in a slightly different direction certain things might turn around.

I have have two kids and 4 (so far) grandchildren. At this point the marriage may be over but I’m staying for the kids.

It’s not that I’m sure there’s no hope, but I’m tired of having them dashed. I just got a photo from a close relative who has renounced her citizenship. A charred and ripped up US passport. But she has no ties here.

I share citizenship with the UK, and at one point during the Bush Jr. years, I considered moving back but thought better of it. Now that Trump is in power I would move in a minute, except the UK has her own problems.

I have a few open invites to marry UK citizens from the military I’ve met. The female I went to her wedding in January, she and a new group are coming back for the annual training to SOCAL I guess, they can’t talk about it. Anyway, they are coming back and she goes, is there any chance we could impose for a weekend in SF. Me….you do not need to ask. I tell new guy he goes, oh my we need to have a party and I can bring some of the guys from my unit. I’ll be in a MASH type party and (Jess bows) voila, item from bucket list will be crossed off 🙂
