How the Most Advanced Civilization Came Apart

Read Time:2 Minute, 21 Second

There’s been an outbreak of Hepatitis A in my area. The papers say 19 cases so far in a county of about 130,000 people. Three people  have died so far. It doesn’t seem so bad but for the fact that no one has figured out the source. People are nervous.

Naturally, we decided to get the vaccine a week ago, but wouldn’t you know it, my doctor was out, the hospitals were out, the drugstores were out, the outpatient clinics were out, although some drugstores were getting a few doses in desultory fashion.

So there we were, waiting on line at the Walgreens that had advertised the shots were available from 2 – 4 PM. Arriving at 2 O’Clock, there was already a long line. We were told that there were 50 shots available and we were numbers 48 and 49.

“What’s going on?” asked a tall young shopper, wife and baby in tow. His man bun seemed like a brown tennis ball glued to the back of his head like some religious identification. Perhaps it is, in a way.  Someone told him and as he walked away, you could hear the smug comment:

“Like don’t they know vaccines don’t even work?”

Of course Hep A isn’t on the mandatory list for the school system although one primary school teacher told us all the teachers she knew were getting the shots. It’s highly contagious, especially from kids with dirty hands. We finally got ours at 5:00 PM. That’s a long time to stand, particularly for some of the old and infirm for whom chairs had to be furnished. A whole lot of people were turned away.

I read this morning about a local case of the measles, something that was eliminated about 20 years ago, but is returning thanks to the Man-bun Morons with their ignorant and proudly snarky opinions fed by trolls reveling in their power to do harm. I’m sure it feels good to be part of a group that’s “in the know.” Will Polio or Smallpox or any of the plagues that have plagued us for thousands of years be far behind?

Of course vaccines work and have been a cause of our great, unprecedented increase in longevity, but as we pass into a post truth era, I’m not really sure that a new generation of know nothing snark lizards won’t make America Paleolithic again.

I won’t be around to see it of course, but some future generation will surely be writing books and getting their degrees in the history of the Great Failure. They’ll likely call it the Great Fail of course if they speak English or something like it, but they may never fully answer the question of how and why the most advanced civilization ever spontaneously came apart.

Tell a lie once, its a lie. Tell the same lie over and over again it will begin to be the truth. (Donald Trump)

Actually that quack was part of a libel against the vaccine manufacturer which was totally false. We just love lies and love being lied to just like we prefer superstition to objective reality

How can the American people be so gullible, and resistant to even the most basic science, based on some quack’s long debunked assumed conclusions about vaccinations?
