Just Believe and God or Donald Will Smile Upon Us

Let there be light.

Scholars debate questions about who the command was directed at if nothing yet existed to hear it. I’m told the Hebrew means something more like “light exists,” but that’s not what I want to talk about. Certain divine and far from divine entities seem to have the power to create worlds; realities by fiat. At least they are created in the minds of men, a place that other scholars would suggest is the true home of reality as we perceive it.

Two words in Hebrew and reality is filled with light. a few more words in ungrammatical English and there is a crisis or there is no crisis. A pronouncement and automobile manufacturing is up or it is down or it is both, but whatever Trump says means “let there be belief” because facts don’t matter, facts cannot contradict and facts cannot be trusted.

With a word or phrase, supporting straws emerge to be clutched, fragments of fact to be assembled into a mosaic of Trump and a haloed deity smiling at each other. What deity? Good question, but Putin will do. Any white man will do.

I noticed the other day how many articles and “studies” have emerged to support the idea that windmills are very bad for humans and cause all sorts of diseases because of the inaudible low frequency sounds they make. I’m not in a position to analyze them or the many articles and studies that say the opposite. I’ll just suggest that “let there be light” also creates “it’s too light/dark in here” and “you know, we have to worry about sunburn and Melanoma. Just ask Dr. Newton about equal and opposite forces.

Coal is good for you, renewable energy is bad for you. Let there be supporting evidence.   No health care is the solution for inadequate health care – just believe and God or Donald will smile upon us and we shall be their chosen people – or at least those with Northern European ancestry. The land of milk and honey lies just ahead. So sayeth the shepherd, so sayeth the flock.

Prosperity is just around the corner – just steadfastly keep the faith and ignore the fake news and the heretical voices of the Hillaryites and vote for Trump again – and again.

Popular science magazines have been talking about that for decades. I don’t know why either.

I still have not understood why they have not figured out a way to use the ocean’s tides to generate power more than they have. They are far more predictable and ever bit as powerful as any other green resource.

Stuck in an endless construction zone in Indian the other day and for mile after endless mile the flat land was covered with windmills, all spinning away. I guess there is going to be dire health consequences – maybe hordes of cancerous zombies descending on Indianapolis any day now. Going back to coal? No problem there.

I think that windmill nonsense is just that: nonsense.

trump gets off on leading his pack on one chase after another, one more absurd than the next. As I said about shepherds and flocks.

And that pack is just as absurd as he is. I know. I lived in South Georgia for a while.

While it doesn;t look like they go around too fast, the blades are so big, so long, some 100+ meters in diameter, that while it looks like they are moving slow, actually only doing 10 to 20 rpm, the blade tips are moving at 120 to nearly 200 miles per hour. Plus they create a disturbance in the air pattern that is in a constant state of flux as the rotors turn to trim them, and the angle of attack is constantly adjusted to make the machine as efficient as possible. They do make noise, a very low whump whump whump that is almost more vibration than sound. The inconsistency can be quite annoying if you are close enough to hear, or feel it. I’ve not heard of a cancer connection however.

I did some work with a wind farm in south central PA as a professional videographer a few years ago. We climbed up into a 1.5 megawatt one with our video gear one day, they gave me a commemorative T shirt. This one had 70.5 meter diameter rotor, 65 meter tower – that’s 213 feet straight up a ladder, loaded with professional video equipment. I was younger then! LOL

It was really neat! Of course it was up on top of the mountain, and the top opens up like a clam shell, what a view!
