An Englishman Wants to Know If Trump Is A Canny Racist

Read Time:4 Minute, 50 Second

by Neil Bamforth

President Trump has told some women Democrats to ‘go home where they came from’, or something like that. Now I know old Trumpy isn’t the brightest star in the firmament, but, I suspect, even he knows damn well that most of them were actually born in the USA. Presuming that even he isn’t so geographically challenged, why would he make such a statement, or, apparently, tweet such a thing?

On the face of it, many will simply dismiss him as a racist, and, indeed, that is almost certainly correct.

However, I suspect the plot thickens far beyond him being remotely worried about people calling him racist.

Now. If, for example, the son of Pakistani immigrants, born in my home town of Oldham, moved to London and was now told to ‘go home where he came from’, then, if he did, he would go back to Oldham.

Come to that, as a northerner living in London, if I was told to ‘go back where I came from’, I also would return to Oldham.

Both me and the son of the Pakistani immigrants would, even as a result of going back where we came from, be going back to the same country we had been told to leave. If you see what I mean. Just a different bit of the same country.

In other words it is nonsensical as well as racist. (Or, in my hypothetical case, I could invent the new word of ‘Northernophobic’).

I think – and , yes, that does occur at random intervals in my life – that I spy a plan of campaign emerging here.

Trump picked on the Mexicans during his last campaign and, from his point of view, it was effective. Well, he won anyway, so he might well think it was effective.

All he is now doing is increasing the size and number of his targets.

He did this a while back by trying to ban Muslims. Now, having exhausted his tirades against Mexicans and Muslims – at least for the time being – he has decided to be more inclusive in a non-inclusive racist way, if you get my drift.

Why do I believe he is doing this?

Well. One option is because he is a thoroughly nasty white supremacist and that’s about it.

The other option is the above, plus my suggestion added on.

I admit I am making a particularly big assumption here. I am aware that there are a huge number of people in Blighty who are not racist, but are, nevertheless, hugely concerned about the numbers of immigrants that have been allowed into Blighty over the decades.

Unlike the racists, they don’t blame the immigrants, they blame the consecutive governments. Basically, the politicians for allowing such a large number of immigrants to come here.

Some are drawn towards the far right but, often with reluctance. They don’t like political extremes, but only the far right are even acknowledging their concerns. Not in a way they approve of, but, to them, it is better than nothing.

Along comes somebody not associated with the far right – in our case, Nigel Farage. Yes, many on the left claim he is, but he doesn’t behave as if he is in the eyes of the aforementioned people wanting somebody to listen to them.

Is Trump a fully paid up member of the Ku-Klux-Klan? Not as far as I know. Is Trump a fully paid up member of any white supremacist organisation? Not as far as I know.

The Trump disciples will vote for him, come what may. What about the Republicans who spend more time grimacing at his tweets than cheering him on? What about the, for want of a better description, the decent Republicans who are not extreme in their views, but genuinely have concerns about immigration to the USA?

I may be well off the mark here. I live in Britain. Comparing Britain to the USA in this regard might well be completely wrong, but I wonder.

I wonder if this is an intentional Trump tactic to shake up the Republicans that he might be worried about. The ones that he can’t be certain will vote for him the next time.

Some of them, for all I know, many of them, may hold genuine concerns about immigration. Not extreme views, but just concerns.

Unlike Blighty, the USA hasn’t got a political party that has ever emerged with any noticeable, if temporary, success from the far right.

We’ve had The British National Party, actively far right, actually win council seats in the dark past. Actually, my home town of Oldham was, I think, the first place to elect a BNP councilor.

UKIP moved further right after Farage left them, although his leaving almost immediately made them a spent force. Just before he left them though, they got 4 million votes in a national general election.

The USA haven’t a choice of somebody leaning right and maintaining respectability.

They have The Democrats or The Republicans, end of.

Is Trump making such bizarre statements to try and push Republicans who are worried about him into voting for him anyway. Purely because, in typical Trump fashion, he is exaggerating their concerns to make them believe that, even if they are uncertain about him, they had better vote for him if they want anyone at all to hear them without dismissing them as racists?

I don’t know. Does anybody actually know for sure what goes through Trumps mind?

I certainly have no idea. I’m just trying to find some vaguely logical path to understanding why he told someone to ‘go back where they came from’ when they are already where they came from.

I know. I’ll go and drink a bucket full of beer. Then it will all become clear to me.

Cherries : Love you really. Just wondered how you’d react if I had a dig back 😘

I shared something written about Trump by a Brit with Mike. I so agree with it. Wish you could read it, you’d love it.

Yes, I am more ‘right wing’ sometimes, but that doesn’t : A) make me perpetually wrong nor B) make me a racist fascist.

Trump was bad. Now he’s worse.

According to the BBCs political editor in the USA, I nailed it.

He believes Trump is marking out his campaign for a second term, and blasting immigrants was only the start.

Now he’s after anyone he perceives as not behaving in the way he thinks an American should.

I’m impressed with me for sussing it😂😂😂😂

Trump is playing a short game on this. He is desperate for another term because once he is out of office he is fair game for both the feds and NY state. He will continue to try to enlarge his base and doesn’t give a rat’s ass about what it costs the country. He is lower than whale shit and that’s at the bottom of the ocean.

Nothing canny about it. He has been a racist fuck since the 70s when he was refusing apartments to black people or the 90s when he was calling for the death penalty for 5 kids that got popped for rape but never did the rape. Still called for it when they were exonerated. Good people on both sides when Nazis were marching by torchlight in Virginia and killed a young women out protesting. He is a racist fuck that is always going to be a racist fuck. He is a lying racist fuck that gets away with it because our media is scared of him and what he might tweet about them. Just in case I was not making myself clear, he has always been and will always be a racist fuck.

He’s a racist pig in every respect. A monster of the highest order, and one that is impervious to holy water and sunlight. He is, after all, protected by white Evangelical Christians and everyone knows they talk directly to God.

Bloody hell Glenn!!! It’s worse than I realized over there!!!

“Is Trump a fully paid up member of. . .”

I can say with certainty the man is not a payed up member of anything that requires payment. He’s a dead beat at heart.

My wife’s parents were born in Hong Kong and in Chengdu and managed to get around the Exclusion act using a loophole, but I can’t tell you how many times she’s had to explain to strangely curious people that being born in Minnesota she’s as American as anyone born in Queens, New York. I no longer think it’s funny when people complement her on her English.

And of course all my life I’ve been not so subtly questioned about my bona fides as a citizen and even as a “white” person once they find out I’m Jewish. They just keep asking. For what it’s worth 23 & Me says I’m 99.9% European. (23% British Isles)

Both of us have have been given veiled suggestions that we might be better off where we came from.

Just a short time ago, a cousin of mine, a 5th generation American with the same German surname, was detained at the airport for 4 hours so that they could come up with some evidence other than a passport that he was American.

It’s not new in this country, heavily constituted (like Australia) of the detritus of Europe, which includes that tribe of misfits, the Trumps.
