Speak Against the Evil: Say Something, Do Something

Read Time:3 Minute, 5 Second

by Sandra Sallee

I watched a tiny clip of that racist rally in NC last night. I saw the man many of my former friends voted for whip up murderous fury against a woman whose only crime is opposing him. No, she does NOT hate America. No, she does NOT support terrorism. Those are lies that sorry excuse for a human made up to rile up his base of supporters. And it worked.

He called her by name. She is already receiving death threats, and he just made it so much more likely that she will be assassinated by some violent rabid follower of his. She is a single mother who is raising three children, but they’re not tiny white fetuses inside a white woman’s uterus, so I guess it’s okay if their lives are torn apart by a murderer who worships at the feet of that malignancy in the Oval Office.

If any one of the four Congresswomen walked into that arena, her life would have been over. I absolutely believe that with every fiber of my being. He would have stood at that podium and watched with glee while a woman was torn to pieces by the mob. I like to think that at least a few of my former friends who voted for him would feel at least a little uneasy at that thought. I’m damn sure that a good number of them would pretend horror while at the same time thinking “she asked for it”. Sadly, I am also quite certain that at least a few would have been right there with the rest of the murderers.

THAT is why I have maintained all along that this is not some disagreement over politics. That man showed us who he was and how evil he is. He showed us that with his multiple infidelities in marriage. He showed us that when he cheated contractors and workers of their pay. He showed us that when he willingly let Stern call his daughter “a piece of ass”…and agreed with him. He showed us that when he mocked a disabled reporter and when he bullied a Gold Star family whose son gave his life defending this nation. He showed us that when he bragged about sexual assault.

And some of my former friends looked at all of that and shrugged. Whether it was because they were tired of politics as usual, or whether they thought they would get a break on health insurance, or whether they thought it would ‘save babies’ by taking away a woman’s right to control her own body, or whether they actually believe that he gives a shit about whether they have more money in their investment portfolio…none of that matters. No matter what the reason, those people looked evil squarely in the eye and accepted it.

If anyone is reading this and feels defensive, that person needs to delete me from their friends list. If anyone is reading this and feels angry, that person needs to delete me from their friends list. If anyone is reading this and feels offended, that person needs to delete me from their friends list. If, God forbid, anyone who still supports that racist piece of shit is reading this, that person needs to get the HELL off my friends list. If anyone is reading this and feels a tiny bit of remorse that they voted for him, then for this country’s sake…SAY SOMETHING. Do something. Speak out against his evil. It’s not enough to just shake our heads and turn away. Silence is not an option. Those who don’t speak out and work against this are just as guilty as he is.

I am way certain that everyone here knows where I stand on the spectrum of dealing with the right wing. I will not deal with them at all and I say things till I am blue in the face here online and in meat world where I have been arrested more than once for being disobedient towards the powers that be. I am okay with that so you know, I have a nice fat bail fund. One thing I am getting way tired of and I heard it just this morning from a marine I met while here in San Diego for Comic Con. Oh Jess, we will have to agree to disagree on that one as regards Trump and the goopers. Oh fuck no we won’t. Agreeing to disagree on who is hotter, Chris Evans or Chris Pine** is one thing but agreeing to disagree on racism, fascism, anti women, anti gay anti(insert whatever you want here) no way, we cannot agree to disagree on those points at all. Choose a side because sitting on the fence only gets you splinters in your ass.

**For the record I can never decide so why choose, they are both hot 🙂

Absolutely a spot on comment by Sandra, so well said.
I’m English but loathe everything about trump and still can’t believe he was ever made potus and that he’s still in office!! He says the most disgusting ignorant juvenile things that a lowlife fool would say. It’s like a nightmare and it’s happening here with brexit 😡 and there are even right wing people here who support trump I’m sure only a tiny minority but still unbelievable!

There is no civil in WAR. I am not civil to any tRump punks period! Even just plain repulickers have my disdain every chance I get to give it. I have dump tRump yard signs and impeach bumper stickers up and on. So yes do something anything to support the resistance and DO IT TODAY.

As a Brit, I’m not living it as much as you all are.

However. Never in my life have I heard such things come out of the mouth, let alone twitter account, of a US President.

I find the general view in Blighty is that Trump makes Nixon and George W seem like mild, moderate and intelligent men.

Frightening times.

Damn good article 👍

I’ve blocked dozens of Trump fans, including my own cousin. I warned him.

Donald Trump is the most corrupt human being to date. His party decided a while back that they were going to use him, and then lose him. Now the have chose to join him at every turn. Only time will tell if he becomes president again, but if he does then the Republicans should hang their heads in shame. the

A new contributor? If so a very good start with this common sense, down to earth read, which I agree with completely.

Thank you. I’m honored that MadMikesAmerica thought it was worthy of sharing. It poured out this morning after that KKK rally last night.

I don’t understand the furor, in particular because Trump is playing Dems like the proverbial drum, and I suppose that in itself should throw the Blue into a furor, but they just can’t resist playing into the hands of the fat man, as he fiddles and diddles away at their expense, and always out of tune.

Glenn is exactly right. We are too busy fighting with ourselves to fight with them, and until we turn that around our chances for beating Trump will continue to lessen. Regardless, defeatism isn’t the solution either, nor is hand wringing, and I am guilty of all. It’s time to stand up, and speak out, louder and louder, and louder.

Living in the Bible belt and Trump sump I hear you.

I wonder if the word “almost” is an understatement. Actually, Obama was accused of the same things: ‘palling around with terrorists’ and hating America – and far more. He was a communist, a Russian agent. He was raising a secret army to arrest and imprison “conservatives” He was a Mau-Mau and a Kenyan and a racist and anti-Semite and he should go back where he came from.

For much of my youth, I was called an America Hater and a communist sympathizer by many a famous personage because I thought our Vietnam adventure was fraudulent, illegal, immoral and worse. I was right, of course.

I was also an N-word lover and many other things. The difference, if there is any, between then and now is in that more people get heard. More people can unite and lies are on an equal, if not superior footing.

What disturbs me more though is that I’m now being called the same ridiculous names by what used to be “our side” which doesn’t seem to have learned any lesson from the past. I don’t agree with too much dogma, economic and social theories to be an ally.

That’s the scary part. That we’re too busy fighting with ourselves to fight with them. We seem to be satisfied with expressing our rage to organize against the common enemy. This time I think the crazies, the fascists, the racists and the foreign adversaries have the best chance they’ve ever had.

Hang in there and don’t give up

Thank you!

I’ve said before…If Tip O’Neill’s toenail clippings are running for office with (D) beside the name, I’M VOTING FOR THEM.

I lost a family member over this monstrous man, so the passion runs deep when it comes to his supporters when a member of your own family would rather never speak to you again if you don’t share their love for Trump. It’s almost a Hitleresque devotion and it should frighten everyone.
