An Open Letter To Joe Scarborough

Dear Joe Scarborough,

Wow! You REALLY ARE a hypocrite, aren’t you? Of course you are. I mean on your show you have tried to convince those who view your show that you have grown apart from Donald J. Trump, but you will have to forgive me, because I never once bought your BS. Let’s face it, Joe: You and Mika are the individuals responsible for promoting Trump during the 2016 election, now aren’t you? Of course. Videos and articles do not lie.

Because you simply could not get enough of the supposed Clinton email controversy to cover on your show, which I might add the State Department has concluded during their investigation that “Clinton did not mishandle classified information,” you and Mika covered that story relentlessly while giving a pass to your friend, didn’t you? Sure did. Furthermore, with all of the chants held at that man’s rallies regarding locking up a political foe who had no indictment that did not stop you or Mika from bashing her constantly while promoting “The Don,” now did it? Nope.  In fact Joe, you told Clinton on your own show to “stop lying” about her emails. And here is a video of your allowing Trump on your show to circulate his lies without confrontation. And let’s not forget the dozens of times Trump called into your show.

And, your latest?  You said the following on Twitter yesterday?

“So let’s see if I’ve got this straight: When crowds chant ‘Lock her up’ towards Hillary, it is illiberal and anti-American. (I agree). But when crowds chant the same toward Trump, it is suddenly a fulsome exercise of sacred First Amendment rights. What hypocritical clowns.”

You actually take issue with those people in attendance in last night’s World Series game due to their booing Donald J. Trump? If you really have distanced yourself, why in the heck would you care? And please spare me the BS line that “it is not American because we should respect the Office.” A person can easily appreciate the office but not the individual occupying it.  You conservatives have proven this before, haven’t you? Yep! You sure did.

Every one of you conservatives pulled this same crud when Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks made a negative statement about then President Bush. And what happened to her? She – and her group – were banned from Country Music. But when Hank Williams Jr. made a highly negative and borderline racist and xenophobic comment on Fox News when Netanyahu came to the US, not a darned word was said by you.  You all are double-minded hypocritical people.

And do tell us: How many times did you publicly decry the behavior of conservatives while the former President Barack Obama occupied our Oval Office? If anything, you provided a cursory review of the ugly behavior and then you moved on with other news. Nothing to see hear, huh? In other words, you didn’t care, and heck why should you, right? Obama was what, Black? A Democrat? A liberal centrist? What about Ted Nugent’s constant death threats, or the Tea Party rally attendees carrying weapons. Did you complain then? Nope! Did you complain when Trump invited Nugent to the White House? Not really, did you? So, please spare me!

Further, what part of his office has Trump respected? He has, in fact, abused his power, and he deserved every negative experience he has gotten, especially given the fact he only attends those events where HE can control the crowds. What about his blatant oppression of free speech? Sounds familiar, huh, especially given the fact that this is your argument today?

To make clear: Trump is everything our nation does not stand for. Putting kids in cages, separating children from their families, denigrating those who are minorities, lying profusely, and still, you find offense in what took place last night? What did you expect to happen? Did you expect the game to stop and for all fans to bow down to him like the King he intimates he is?

It is unfortunate that this is where we find ourselves as a nation, but again: YOU and every single outlet that gave Trump a platform with absolutely zero vetting are to blame.

Therefore, your commentary from yesterday is hypocritical, while demonstrating that you continue to hold an affinity for Trump. I do not care what you say, for as a psychologist and pastor, I look at what you do. And since we are on this topic, you are a self-described “Christian” pro-life kind of guy, aren’t you?

Despite this, you seem to know little of the Scriptures you and your ilk pound on the heads of others while leaving a full pass to folks who believe in your worldview, don’t you? That’s right! I said it. You are spiritually dead. For if you were spiritually alive, you would easily find several texts which support what happened to Trump.

Here is one for ya in Galatians 6:7-9:

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

But apparently, you cannot even find a scriptural reference which is known in your right-wing evangelical circles. Now why is THAT, Joe? I will tell ya why: Because you have given your heart to politics by USING your religion and supposed faith. In the end, this using of religion – which is supposed to govern your behavior – is overtaken by your hypocritical and pathetic stance on politics.

Again, from the Scriptures in Matthew 6:24:

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.”

Now, let’s cut through all of your BS and just be clear: You have LOVED politics for years – even beyond that time your Aide died in your office – and well, as you can see from above, if you love politics, you should not be using your faith to further your ambitions, now should you? But you have! And these are NOT my words, but the Words of the very Christ YOU SAY you worship.

See Joe? I could not care less where your political affinities lie, but I surely DO take issue with you calling those who dissent on a man who has been thrice married, grabbed women by their pu$$ies, mocked a disabled man, refused to pay his workers, filed bankruptcy as many times as he has; Un-American.

But don’t you worry, Joe. While the Church’s reputation is crashing because of people just like you and your affinity for Trump demonstrated by your behavior, know this:

“Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.” (Matthew 7:17).

Your tree? Well, I think you know exactly what kind of fruit we see you bear, now don’t you?
