The Fake Gospel Of Sandy Rios

Read Time:5 Minute, 25 Second

Hey Sandy,

Boy have I got to tell you; your message is reminiscent of the Jim Jones cult, ya know, that group who blindly followed Jim’s simple message down to Guyana only to end up drinking his potent Kool-Aid after his hit squad killed several people including a United States Congressman. Yeah, that group.

That is, you and your friends are turning our gospel message into one where it is now bordering on a cult and is highly dangerous.

Here is the real deal Sandy: The people who have to TELL people how much they are a Christian, are the very ones who have not one hint of Christ in them. I mean you do know that the word Christian means “little Christ” don’t ya? Of course. And yet, here you are spewing out a bunch of BS once again.

Never mind how you implied Hillary Clinton a lesbian with absolutely zero proof, or never mind how you railed against Target for implementing a restroom policy which allows transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice, or how you rail against those who are transgender. Oh no! We can’t have THAT now, can we?

You DO know that Christ and the scriptures EMBRACE diversity? No? Okay, I’ll just chalk that up to your simplicity and scriptural ignorance. Let me assist:

Romans 14:1 states CLEARLY:

“Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to doubtful disputations.” In other words, Sandy, even should you believe that transgender behavior is sinful, you are still to receive them. And I just find myself asking: How in the heck do you expect to receive those people when you persist in pushing them away?

Personally, I have been aghast at how evangelicals – specifically of the White race – have fallen head over heels with Donnie, but boy do YOU take the cake! I mean there you are representing the “American Family Association’s ‘Governmental Affairs’ Division, all while promoting white supremacy? Seriously?

Did you miss that apology, or do you just not care?

Listen:  When you make a public statement  as inane as follows, it is you who appears to be attacking Christianity.

“So when the left is talking about white supremacism, they’re talking about the roots of this country. They’re talking about Christianity. They’re talking about hard work, about capitalism and free-market values. They’re talking about everything that has made America what it is. That’s what they mean.”

Let me be clear: The Bible is silent on the subject of capitalism and republican’s current “free market values.” But here is the worse part Simple Sandy: So is our constitution. Nowhere in that document will you find our Founders supportive of the Republican wet dream of unfettered capitalism and free-market values. Do you know what those Founders were concerned about Simple Sandy? Our Republic. Period. And while those Founders failed miserably on the issue of slavery, those who have a vision towards a better tomorrow continue to try to ensure equality in our future, while people like you continue to perpetuate this disgusting notion of white supremacy.

And I can assure you after reading The Federalist Papers that not a single Founder determined that Christianity was responsible for the founding of our nation. Oh no, far from it. The majority of our Founders were real deists who believed in an actual higher being. Heck, folks like yourselves simply make yourselves the higher being. You? Folks like you want to instill a dominionist theocracy among the people, ignoring the very fact that the God we say we worship grants free-will (or choice) for all humans.

How about First Corinthians 14:10 Sandy?

“There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them [is] without signification.”

Now you can argue all darned day long that I am guilty of not allowing your kind of voice to rise to significance. But that is not what Paul is discussing in that text. He is stating how our voices will be significant in the world’s dialogue about the very legitimacy of our belief.

And let’s face it: You and those who persist in worshiping Donald every chance you get, whether it be through groups on Facebook, or with public statements of endorsement on our newly state-run media outlet Fox News, you are leading people astray. That is, you are ensuring the deterioration of the message that at one time was at least palpable to people who were unaffiliated with us. Now? Who wants to be a part of your sickened and bent theological machinations.

Again: Trump is a thrice-married man, a serial philanderer, a man who admitted to groping women by their respective crotches, bragged about it, mocked a disabled reporter, refused to pay his workers, called people from minority countries “sh$thole countries,” implemented a policy where children and babies are separated from their families, and is now on record withholding constitutionally appropriated monies and funding from a foreign ally.

While my task is not to shove my beliefs down another’s throat, I sure as heck refuse to allow YOU – given my role as a pastor and social psychologist to place some form of false dangerous doctrine out in the public square without confronting you about it. You and those who persist on worshiping Trump disgusts me, especially when you hide behind the very scriptures you claim are “God-breathed.”

As Paul taught his student Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16:

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

The Word is what is supposed to have the power to change OUR lives, not other’s political ideology. And should you think I am wrong to confront you; think again!

As Paul also instructs Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:2: “Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not.”

Sandy, I have done my job. When are you going to begin doing yours without wading in politics when the Bible is clear that our focus should be on the evangelical community’s behavior – ourselves – versus those who are not part of it – others?

I will be deeply honored to have you connect with me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter.

Hey Mark have you ever noticed there are a lot of nutjobs associated with Jesus and religion? Really. Look at Jim Jones, Jim Bakker, Pat Robertson, just to name a few. No doubt, historically, there are hundreds of thousands more.

Power corrupts. Aren’t these nutjobs in love with power?

If then power does indeed corrupt, churches, with the ability to justify and create power simply by defining gods and their wants and needs must tend toward corruption.

Of course there is not and cannot be any evidence of the claim. Is that why “faith” is presented as a virtue and not a weakness?

Jim Jones actually spiked Flavor-Aid. Kool Aid cost a few cents more, But cesspool Sandy here is spiking the truth with poison.

I don’t accept Jesus of Nazareth as other than another anti-Roman revolutionary and Israeli Humanist critic of the Judean/Roman Temple, but that’s not my point. If Christianity is a whites only religion how come Swaziland is 82% Christian, El Salvador 82% while the US is 71? Which of those countries would you rather live in than the US? How many American Christians accept other denominations as Christian anyway? We’re something like 64th in the world in numbers.

How much atrocity was opposed by how many Christians through history? How much economic progress, democracy, science and health has been furthered and how much violently opposed by Christian powers?

Still, having read ancient mesopotamian “scripture” for a long long time, I see Jesus being different than other hero/savior/prophets in that he seems to have asserted that what we do to and for others matters – that other life matters more than how much ritual you perform, how much you donate or sacrifice in the temple of choice. That wasn’t the case in Babylon, or Sumer or perhaps first century Judea. Where did that Love thy neighbor message get lost more than in the words and deeds of self-appointed Christians and blind Bible worshipers?

To some denominations it’s not what you do or what you do to others – to others it is. Who has authority here? Is it the squeakiest wheel or the loudest liar? No matter what you think of Jesus, he (and we) deserve better than this evil minded bimbo would have it.

In this case the squeakiest wheel IS the loudest liar. Shocking…
