Hollywood Reporter’s 10 Best Films Of the Decade? Really?

Read Time:50 Second

by Michael John Scott

It’s that of time year when “best-of” lists proliferate. In this case, Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter has picked not the 10 best films of the year but the 10 best films of the decade.

I must say I don’t agree with Mr. McCarthy, not on even one of these flicks, although I’ve not even heard of, much less seen some of them.  I mean Mad Max: Fury Road? Really? But I’ll leave the reader to decide what they liked and what they didn’t.

Here’s the list:

  1. Carlos (2010)
  2. The Social Network (2010)
  3. Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
  4. Only Lovers Left Alive (2014)
  5. The Handmaiden (2016)
  6. Leviathan (2014)
  7. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)
  8. Brooklyn (2015)
  9. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
  10. The Gatekeepers (2012)

Read the full piece for the explanations of why these films made the cut.  I did read it and I still don’t get it, but maybe that’s just me.
